Maybe because he doesn't have a lot of power. You know who else Hererra fought before Garcia? Provodnikov, Mike Alvarado, and Karim Mayfield. Was Garcia a welterweight...NO! I should take Rios' opinion? That's your evidence of Algeri's greatness, another jr. welterweight who had no business being in the ring with Pacquiao? That's not a good look son! If Algeri wins, of course it shows more about Manny than Algeri. I'm not hating on Algeri, but he does not belong in this fight. If Floyd was fighting Algeri, instead of Maidana, do you know what everyone would be saying about Floyd? BANANAS! If Floyd picked Danny Garcia next, instead of Khan or Thurman, do you know what everyone would be sayin'? Come on son! GTFOH wit' dat' BS! Your supporting a double-standard and you're not doing a good job at it either.
Despite what you may think the whole fn world does not revolve around Floyd Mayweather so who gives a rat's arse what anyone thinks about if Floyd fought Algieri.. He isn't so it does not matter. Despite what you think of Brandon Rios he's a Professional fighter with over 30 fights under his belt and an ex world champion.. How many pro fights have you been in "son"?.. My comment on Herrera was to prove that your insinuation that espn fighters are no good is totally bogus. Herrera fought Provodnikov and Alvarado before Garcia, and Chris also just fought and beat Provodnikov who destroyed Alvarado so what exactly is your point?.. Mayfield is nothing to brag about. And I'm also a fan of Herrera who BEAT Danny Garcia, so like I said espn fighters are pretty good. Chris DOES belong in this fight being that he just beat the guy that many people said Pac should fight next which was Ruslan.. what part of that do you not get? And you don't need power to win a boxing match, your boy Floyd Mayweather is the shining example of that.

That it was Cotto that first suggested a CW, contrary to what you said. No surprise, he also demanded 150 with 160 rehydration clause when defending his 154 title vs one eyed noncontender one fight prior. So chances are 150 is Cottos sweetspot

Pac has impsed 2 CWs, in his 7th and 8th division. Cotto has imposed 2as well, but in only his 3rd and 4th, including a CW lineal title attempt.

Nice try, but no cigar. Brandon Rios survived Abril, and was coming of a loss with Alvarado at 140. Did Manny choose Alvarado (the winner)? No he chose Rios (the loser). The whole boxing world does not revolve around Floyd. I agree. There are a lot of opponents to choose from at 147 other than Floyd. Manny chose NONE of them. There are other opponents at 140 to choose from, Manny chose NONE of them. He chose Chris Algeri:

                  July 14, 2014:

Roach told me he recently talked to Pacman's promoter, Bob Arum, and Roach said that Algieri will get the nod to fight Manny.

"I told Bob, 'I don't like runners,' and Bob said you better find a way, that's who you're fighting," said Roach, the six time Boxing Writers Association trainer of the year.

Roach said he asked if there wasn't somebody more popular, or a better stylistic fit for the 56-5-2 Pacman, who last gloved up April 12, when he conclusively beat (UD12) Tim Bradley in a rematch tangle. After all, Roach offered, Provodnikov would love to clash with the Filipino icon. Nope, Arum said, according to Roach, that'd be a hard sell because he lost his last fight, to Algieri.

"I can't promote that," Arum said to Roach. "Bob likes Algieri, and he told me that's who we're getting."

                  http://www.thesweetscience.com/news/...dy-for-algieri

“I said I wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao,” Khan said to mancunianmatters.co.uk “I offered him the fight to Pacquiao’s team recently and they didn’t take it. I got my team to speak to Bob Arum and we got nothing back, and they went with Algieri. He’s a nobody. If Manny Pacquiao wanted to make big money in boxing he needs to fight big names.”

It’s quite likely that the Khan question was never put to Pacquiao. The decision on who Pacquiao would be fighting in November appears to have been largely one made by Arum himself, because Roach says that he’s not sure why Arum chose Algieri for Pacquiao to fight.

Roach wanted to have Pacquiao fight his fighter Ruslan Provodnikov, but Arum didn’t see how he could sell a Pacquiao-Provodnikov fight given that Provon***ov was coming off of a defeat to Algieri. Of course, Pacquiao has fought guys coming off of defeats in the past, and Arum had no issues with them. Pacquaio fought Joshua Clottey and Brandon Rios with them coming off of defeats. But then again, those fighters were Top Rank.

Maybe I read it wrong, but I saw Cotto saying he WOULDN'T sacrifice his body again not asking for a CW.

The last words in the article are clearly "if Pacquiao wants to fight me it has to be ABOVE 150" I'm not sure how that's asking for a CW.
