I know all about the death of Rockson (RIP). How he was in NYC and was identified by Renzo at the hospital. I also know about the rumors that he OD'd and how it wasn't a motorcycle accident.
It still does not change the fact that Rickson avoided Kazushi Sakuraba at all costs, came up with excuse after excuse to not fight him and left Pride when demand to fight Sakuraba was at an all time high, to sign with Colosseum 2000 to fight Masakatsu Funaki of all people. I know enough about Rickson Gracie's career. I probably might even know more about him than you.Comment

And since we're on the topic, Rickson did impress me when he was on his back and Funaki was standing up and kicking his legs, the same way Sakuraba kicked Rickson's relatives.
When it happened, it was very interesting to see what Rickson would do in the situation. And when he timed his own kick to connect with FUnaki's knee while he was in mid kick to break his rhythm and give him an opportunity to get back to his feet and clinch, knee Funaki in the gut, take him down, pound his face bloody forcing Funaki to give his back, then choke him out, and finish the fight by kicking him in the back to wake him up from his sleep. It was truly one of the finest moments in MMA history.
Unfortunately, it was that bum Funaki who consistently lost at Pancrase and not Sakuraba who mopped the floor with two of his brothers and two of his cousins.Last edited by ReIoaded; 09-26-2014, 01:43 AM.Comment

Only time I actually enjoyed watching MMA was the Pride era. UFC is just meathead WWE lite IMO. Pride was the **** though. And since we're on the topic, Rickson did impress me when he was on his back and Funaki was standing up and kicking his legs, the same way Sakuraba kicked Rickson's relatives.

Sakuraba was the Gracie assassin, don't blame Rickson for ducking him.Comment

Yes. I too preferred MMA back in those days compared to the meathead UFC stuff today.Comment
