    Total $11.5 Million

Canelo Alvarez - $5 million guarantee
    Marcos Maidana 1 - $1.5 million guarantee
    Marcos Maidana 2 - $3 million guarantee
    Total $9.5 million

It's interesting that Chris Algieri is getting paid just as much as Maidana got paid for his first fight with Mayweather. Even more interesting is that Rios earned more for his fight than Maidana earned in the rematch.

Also worth noting is that Cotto earned $12 million vs Pacquiao and $8 million vs Mayweather. Does anybody know why Pacquiao's opponents get paid more?
Canelo got a $8.5M gurantee (somewhere they said even $12M), Maidana got argentinian TV as well...

Cotto earned 35 % of the PPV money against Pacquiao and the PPV did good that's why he earned as much. He earned a $8M guarantee vs Mayweather plus a share of the PPV money after a certain point. I read somewhere he got 35%.

Because Pac is the true lb for lb champ in the eyes of all meaningful fans.

And because Pac's opponents are taking real risks to their health fighting Pac where as against Floyd they might lose but are not going to be seriously hurt.

That's why I always found this "Mayweather Sweepstakes" thing to be funny. You get more to face Pacquaio. Khan could have got more to face Kell Brook ffs

Khan-Brook is also very special circumstances.

Bob is like King, he doesn't leave without a champion. Sometimes you have to pay for that privilege. Mayweather knows he's going to win, so he won't care.

I think their total pay makes them more money altogether, most of them get a piece of the PPV money. Alvarez definitely did, so did cotto but not sure about Maidana. It was a gamble on Canelo and Cotto's part to take less of a guarantee and pin their hopes on a good PPV sales.

Won't care about what? You do know there's rematch clauses?
