JD I disagree that the first fight was more anticipated. This fight was more anticipated than the first one, for obvious reasons. Maidana's success in the first one, Mayweather's little older, the belief that Mayweather's legs were gone. Also, no one cares about Miguel Vazquez and Alfredo Angulo, and nobody in the room knew De La Rosa was Mexican until it was mentioned. People asked me if he's Puerto Rican or Dominican. They had nothing to do with the increase of 25k. Actually, I think Vazquez-Bey was probably detrimental to the card because I, and many, many other fans were upset at that match up.

Regardless, doing 900 and 925k respectively, with some one who;s first and second time on PPV was those two times, is pretty impressive. Those were pretty much Mayweather-Hatton #'s.

Well anything north of 901k must be a success because it took forever for the first fight and Guerrero numbers

I read that too. It was 5th highest gate with 15 mil and it stated that floyd is worth like 420 mil.

Now i dont care about their money but to be worth close to half a bil is pretty impressive if true

How does Floyd get such a large live gate number - without selling out the arena? Is he or Haymon buying all the tickets then trying to resell? No comps seems odd too? Is some showtime/enron accounting going on there?

It doesnt matter if the arena is sold out. The gate is what the tickets sell for, in this case close to $15 million. Now, there are stories over the years that large blocks were bought to make it look good and as far as the commission is concerned it counts if the tax is paid on the ticket as a bought ticket. That said, MGM was pretty darn full the other night.

Alert to all followers: #Floyd #Mayhem 925,000 PPV buys being written by some excellent writers is false, unwittingly by them! #boxing

I will have early next week a PPV number that is real, accurate, and to be "relied upon" Not a fraudulent number! #Mayhem #boxing #Floyd

Only around 10-15%% of the tickets are available to the general public for purchase. The rest are scooped up by the MGM and promoters for both fighters.

so in a 15k seat arena only 1500-2250 seats are actually for sale to the public? that doesn't make much sense.
