Ok ...so "projected" could mean, "we don't want or have to show you proof, but we'll use these figures to justify our claims that Floyd is a draw"....fair enough?

And in the interest of fairness...is it also safe to assume that had the projected numbers been considerably lower, the exact opposite reaction would be seen on this thread: Floyd fans discrediting and Pac fans celebrating?.....

Now as the "face of boxing", shouldn't Floyd be selling more than these projected numbers indicate, per fight?..and countering with "well at least he still sells more than so & so" is a pretty weak argument considering the overall numbers

Well, Canelo vs Cotto is a GIVEN...Mex vs PR and both do huge #s on their own, can you imagine once they fight each other? It would be crazy, hopefully they both keep winning and fight each other real soon....

Now Floyd vs Garcia?...I think you're pushing it...especially after Garcia's last buushet fight...seriously, did he make you feel "proud to be boricua" after the public bullying of Ron Salka?

The casual public didn't think it was bullying. The people who filled the Barclays were psyched after that performance. I even had a co-worker approach me the following Monday asking who was the PR kid that fought on Saturday. Obviously I didn't tell him it was a complete mismatch because he was blown away.

Are you saying that Showtime, and not MGM, gets the gate money?

Floyd has a contract with MGM to have his fights take place at their venue. That's why all this talk of fighting at Barclays or London is just that, talk. His contract includes his next two fights.

As someone who was at the fight, I can tell you that there were hundreds of empty seats, but it will still be listed as a sold-out event. Why? Because MGM has to buy all remaining unsold tickets as per their contract (nevermind the fact that they automatically buy 1/3 of the tickets to give away to their guests)

Gate shows that there were like 1100 unsold seats and none given away. Gate was like 4th or 5th highest in Vegas history.

I still DONT UNDERSTAND why PPV numbers are so hard quantify..

We are talking money here. Someone knows the EXACT amount of buyers for the PPV considering people's cut of the money is tied to the PPV buys. I doubt they go up to Floyd and say, "So the fight sold between 900k and 950k buys, so we're gonna cut you a check for something in between"

              Who does business like that?

DirecTV, Cox Cable, Showtime, etc should easily be able to determine how many people pressed "Buy" on their cable box. In this digital age, metrics like this are simple as pie to collect.

Not sure what you mean by none given away since our seats were comped, just like the 3 previous mayweather fights I've been to.

My info is from higher ups @ MGM, but they could have the details wrong I suppose.

They won't announce numbers, which means they wont announce numbers they are disappointed by. This was Floyd's 4th bout on his 6-fight deal. Only one has cracked a million buys, the Canelo record breaking fight they gleefully announced. But the others did poorly based on their own expectations. The Maidana rematch won't come close a million buys either. I saw some reports claiming 925k. I do not believe that at all. My sources, at least as of yesterday, were saying it might hit the high 800s, meaning a little better than the first fight. But it's still too early on a Thursday after the fight to truly know when they are missing MAJOR cable system numbers like Comcast
