If this forces Mayweather vs Pacquiao I'm all for it. I'd prefer to see an exciting competitive fight with fireworks on Cinco de Mayo, drinking with family and friends, than a lopsided decision for Floyd.
Cotto/Canelo > Mayweather/Anyone but Pacquiao
I just hope Mayweather doesn't try to take the Cotto fight from Canelo, which I wouldn't blame him, it's a smart move.
Also Mayweather vs Khan would do numbers in the UK at the live gate but Khan isn't as popular in the US as he thinks he is, the PPV's wouldn't do well in the US. When I was with my family watching Mayweather/Maidana II, they didn't know who the hell Khan was when they interviewed him before the fight. They asked who he was and if he's a boxer? lol Outside of those who follow the sport, most casuals in the US aren't familiar with Khan.Comment

Hello sports fan, first of all the boxing fans, I am writing this article to show you how all this movements about the “Cinco de Mayo” date was a plan already on the making. I write this article in Spanish, so I am translating it in the best way I can, but I know you will understand.
All this started when Oscar De La Hoya meet Bob Arum, they was figuring out “how” to take back the Mexican date, and force Mayweather to fight Pacquiao. The friend of Mayweather on the B side of him (Floyd), Richard Schaefer know the situation, he also know as a friend or to have a great relationship with Floyd, that after his career ends, he will go to strat full time on Mayweather Promotions.
So Richard knowing this dirty move just quit from G.B.P knowing that Mayweather will have to build his company, and as his friend he will be the one that all will look as the main traitor or the main person doing the dirty move for that date. So he quit, and have the door open to be on the A side working toe to toe with Floyd building Mayweather Promotions soner than later.
So Miguel Cotto as a :Free Agent” that goes on a fight to fight basis with Top Rank, signed with Freddie Roach, that will put a rematch with Manny in a 0% to happen. Then if you see boxing you know now the top 4 boxers that make good to average numbers in this line are 1. Mayweather, 2. Pacquiao, 3. Cotto, 4. Canelo.
If you see that Canelo, Pacquiao works for Golden Boy and Top Rank, Cotto as a Free Agent works also with Top Rank his fights, that leave Floyd alone in the dark. Then After Cotto signed with Roach, they do a move that was key to this plan, or they need to think about other boxer. Cotto do his best fight with Roach, defeating a Middleweight by KO, and taking a title, that made him a historic boxer in Puerto Rico, also the world, that he is the only with 4 title in 4 division.
That move made Cotto back on the money, because people the more than the less want him with Canelo or Mayweather, and a ferw ones with GGG. He is on his best moment now, all the people minds on him was his last fight, so after Mayweather wining on Sep 13 the rematch, Many calling him out, Bob, and now Golden Boy forcing that date to push a Canelo-Cotto fight, put Mayweather on a position to fight one of the best 3 PPV guys, Pacquiao (the most and bigger one), Remtach with Canelo or Cotto, and I don’t see Canelo again on May.
So the winner on all of this is Cotto, because the hype still, he don’t do the December fight because he knows about this move and with a fight on dec with a c fighter will put him on HBO regular and if he goes PPV the numbers will drop badly.
Doing this Cotto just as Freddie what Floyd will do, If Floyd fight Manny or Cotto, BUT one of that two guys will be his man in the ring on May or he need to compete against a Canelo-Cotto fight on Mexican date that will kill any other Floyd fight.
This move just help Cotto, because Cotto will fight Canelo or Mayweather both huge PPV and Huge $$ for him, the only way is Mayweather go with Manny that weekend and then after we see Cotto Canelo.
Bet my words, Mayweather will be with Pacman or Cotto on May, that’s why Cotto don’t fight on Dec, to rest and have a very strong training camp to fight Canelo or Mayweather.Comment

two years ago pacquiao's contract with arum ended. he sent konz right away to meet with mayweather at his gym to negotiate the fight. froid kept on adding more roadblocks. nothing happened.

I don't think that's entirely true. Every article I read never stated that Koncz ever tried to make the fight when he went to the gym. It was just another smoke screen from the Pac camp.he did millions of times. it didn't work. your hero kept running away and threw more roadblocks along the way.
