Mayweather probably has the MGM reserved for May 2. But he DOES NOT own the date (MAY 2). Anybody can fight on that day. It just depends where. And more importantly, if the promotional companies and/or sponsors are 100% sure they can compete and make profit against the competition.

Being that it's a MEXICAN HOLIDAY. I think Canelo can OUT SELL and definitely draw BIGGER crowd than Mayweather. Also, think Canelo makes more profit on that day than Mayweather. Doesn't matter where Canelo fights. MSG, Dallas Cowboy Stadium, Mandalay Bay Resort Casino, or UNLV (Thomas & Mac Center). There are way more Hispanic/latin fans in boxing than there are of any other culture. And if you say that's not true... Then why does Mayweather fight on Mexican holidays?

Oscar is not ****** enough to go against Mayweather. Alvarez cannot draw more than 300,000 PPVs on his own. The Alvarez/Lara fight did so poorly on PPV that Oscar decided to put Alvarez's next fight on regular cable when he was originally planning to put Alvarez on three PPV fights this year.

The only way Alvarez will be fighting on that weekend is if he is fighting some stiff on regular HBO an hour before the Mayweather fight starts.

You forget to mention cotto, who brings a huge following and the mexico-puerto rico rivalry in boxing that comes with it.

If Mayweather does not fight Pacquiao, and Canelo fights Cotto, I would definitely pick Canelo-Cotto over some garbage fight like Mayweather vs Khan.

Now if Khan can change my mind by beating a top 10 WW like Brook, Alexander, Thurman, Guerrero, before fighting Mayweather in May then I will completely support Mayweather vs Khan. Beating Julio Diaz, Luis Collazo and Josesito Lopez is good for Khan's advancement and confidence but does nothing for me as far as seeing him as a worthy opponent for Mayweather. I would support Mayweather vs Pacquiao or Brook over Canelo-Cotto if they are on the same day.

I hope that Canelo/DLH do go ahead with the date, as long as it's vs Cotto, that way it pushes Floyd to fight some one really competitive. If not, then i'm afraid to say Mayweather should retire. Fighting Canelo and Maidana 2x was very good, I support that, Guerrero was acceptable, Cotto was a very good opponent. But Khan is a little lesser of an opponent than Guerrero was, going into the Floyd fight.

The Maidana fight flopped, homey. All the PPV numbers that have been coming out were fake and over exaggerated. Reason why he's still fighting. Your idol is a PPV fraud.

Probably why floyd said the fight will be on showtime, as if hbo doesn't exist. They've been giving him money while profits are questionable

Canelo-Cotto is the 2nd biggest bout that can be made in the sport. After Floyd-Manny of course. Arum has his hands in both pots though so we shall see which one gets made and which one gets pushed.
