Floyd is fine. He is getting old for sure but he doesn't need to retire coming off a performance where he won atleast 9-10 rounds.

This is one fight where Floyd doesn't dominate all 12 rounds & people go absolutely berzerk & start suggesting retirement what the hell...

All you have to do is look at Floyd hiding his face under the brim of that hat after the fight last night. His face was all lumped up and bruised, Maidana barely looked phased.

Is Floyd way past his prime? Yes. Is he slower and easier to hit now? Yes. Do i think a fight with Manny would be competitive? Yes. Did Maidana's style had something to do with him not looked his best? Absolutely. I've said it before, some guys on here do get caught up in the moment too much after every fights. We've discussed about Floyd being shot since 2011, but he's still winning fights, although, he hasn't looked great in his last two fights.

He's almost 38 and fought twice against a guy whose style makes everyone uncomfortable. Weak era or not, Floyd is still sharper mentally and arguably physically than, Pernell Whitaker, Ray Leonard were at the age of 37. Manny is easier to catch on the way in, and he's not as physically strong to manhandle Floyd the way that Maidana did. Styles make fights, i still think a past prime Floyd still has enough gas in the tank to beat a past prime, Pacquiao.

Agreed. Maidana's style a lot tougher for Floyd and it's not even close. Floyd a decent sized favorite over Pacquiao and basically everybody else that's left.

Forget about Floyd's legs, his hands are the main reason he hasn't looked all that great since after the Cotto fight. He can't really hurt his opponents anymore without damaging his own hands. He basically slap-punch his opponents now instead of hitting them with effective potshots as he once used to. I wouldn't be mad if he chooses to hang up the gloves after this fight, but if he still feel like he can fight two more times, then i wouldn't be mad at his decision to fight on.

Damn. Props to you. He's certainly slowing down. He's still a great fighter, but it's just age catching up to him. He looks vulnerable in exchanges, and you get the feeling he's gonna get caught. He did last night. He was lucky it was the end of the round.

There were times when i felt Maidana had him. At times it seemed Floyd was begging to be knocked out. I don't think he has that hunger anymore. I think he's, now, too comfortable being Floyd.

He won tonight clearly and i think the scorecards were to close..but he did not look like the Floyd i know

They weren't on the same level as Pacquiao.

As for this topic, it's pretty obvious Floyd has been declining for a while. Guerrero and Canelo just didn't have the style to show it but if Floyd failed to impress against somebody like Maidana, then you KNOW it's bad. Even Floyd implied this at the end of this fight.

However, I don't think he should retire at this moment. Two more fights shouldn't kill him and to retire now would just confirm even more what people have been thinking for a long time; he's afraid to lose. He's looked more vulnerable now than ever but he did still win both fights and it's not like they were anything like what a declining Hagler went through with Mugabi so I don't think he should retire now. He has enough to last two more fights (maybe even longer).
