    The signs are there.

He's getting hit with shots that he never used to, he takes more time off in rounds and he doesn't look in complete control anymore.

He still flashes moments of the old Mayweather, but he's spending as much time looking like an old Mayweather.

Everything about this post seems like its to wind people up and antagonise people.

For goshs sake the guy is already planning to retire in 2 fights time when he could fight for another 4 years. He hardly gets hit, he holds all the time so his opponents cant hit him or throw leather at him, so no reason he cant last as long as BH.

As soon as Floyd is not what he was, his fans say he should retire? What about Pac with his style of fighting and getting koed. He probably aint what he was but do his fans worry so much? Floyd hardly gets hit so shouldn't he last a bit longer?

I think it is more a product of Maidana's style than anything. Put Floyd in with another classically trained boxer and Mayweather will look other worldly like he did vs Canelo.

Maidana doesn't fight or throw punches from conventional angles. For a technician like Mayweather, this can throw you off your game when you aren't sure where the punches are coming from and you are risk adverse. This might be the reason why he won't fight Pac because Pac is a lefty with speed and an awkward style to boot.

Floyd fans want Floyd to retire to preserve his zero. Reality is Floyd could fight for years more, but at the expense of a loss or two isn't acceptable.

Even if physical decline has shortened the distance between himself and the pack, there's still quite some gulf in terms of craft. Plus, on last nights fight, I'd be more concerned with Maidana's lack of physical output.

He's already considering retirement, he's got 2 fights left - though I'm sure he'll make a comeback for the big 50th. That's 3 fights, max.

It's not like he's like Juanma Lopez or Angulo, who are shot to all hell. He is still probably the best at 147. He's just no longer unbeatable.

I honestly look forward to him retiring. I used to think the exposure he bought on the sport from the mainstream was worth him still being in the sport but I really do think the sport needs to cleanse itself from his toxic presence. He's got no love for the game, and all we're watching now is a man trying to get out of the sport unbeaten. Once he goes, it'll be so much better, mark my words.

The Welterweights can actually fight each other, rather than all try to get that payday. His mere presence distorts things, everything becomes Floyd-centric.

We won't have to listen to his ****** **** in the lead up to fights.

Haymon won't be able to leverage him against Showtime and get other favours.

No more hyped PPV which turn out stinky.

No more Pac-Mayweather bull**** (fight is never happening, morons).

No more paid lackeys shouting TBE while he stacks every conceivable odd against Marcos Maidana.

So yes, Larry. Like you, I seriously want Floyd to consider retiring right now. It's just for entirely different reasons.

I would definitely agree he didn't look as sharp yesterday. But it could be based on styles more than anything as some people have mentioned in the thread. He just didn't want to take many risks against Maidana. I'm a bit concerned about the gap between now and May, that's a long time and he'll be turning 38. We will get the answer in May I guess. Khan, Pacman or Thurman (with one more big win) are all legit opponents.

Floyd looked his age. Good result but by his standards he didn't look impressive. Hit too much, marked up, beaten to the jab at times. Hopkins has 15 years on floyd but he doesn't get roughed up like that.
