Ortiz is nothing special. If Chagaev shows up 50% of what he used to be, he should still be the favorite.Comment

these interim & regular belts are a joke but it is getting 2 contenders in the ring fighting each other. chagaev hasn't beaten a top HW since he beat john ruiz. valuev, drumond, pudor, oquendo, Meehan, skelton are not top HWs. valuev was decent but he wasn't matched up against top opposition throughout his career. from what I see from Ortiz he should beat chagaev fairly easily at this point. I have always thought chagaev was a tad overrated. a gatekeeper at best. wladimir, ruiz & povetkin are the only 3 top HWs he has fought in his career. he is 1-2 in those fights. he was matched very carefully from the day he turned pro.Comment

Ortiz is a solid fighter. He dispatched Kayode with ease the other night, something I doubt Chagaev could do.
I like the prosect of Ortiz vs Chagaev - both guys are skilled and both are southpaws. Ortiz has much more power and has a pretty good size advantage as well
From what I've seen from Ortiz he KOs Chagaev within 5 roundsComment

styles make fights. chagaev is not a big puncher, or even very aggressive.
he'd stop kayode. taking longer to stop kayode than ruiz, a guy who was aggressive, very big, and a more natural puncher, doesn't mean he is worse.Comment

Doesn't matter how one performs against a certain opponent in comparison, and it was a quick stoppage anyhow. Chagaev could've gotten similar results with that ref.Ortiz is a solid fighter. He dispatched Kayode with ease the other night, something I doubt Chagaev could do.

Ortiz is ok, but as I said, he's nothing special. He's got a lot of work to do if he's going to continue to KO opponents like people think, even this old version of Chagaev.Comment

It's a legitimate comparison. Frankly Chagaev sucks and I don't see him stopping Kayode. He's a pillow puncher whose work rate sucks and I can't remember the last time he scored a KO.Doesn't matter how one performs against a certain opponent in comparison, and it was a quick stoppage anyhow. Kayode has been hurt against weak punchers in the past. It's really nothing to measure a fighter by, especially when the stoppage was so premature. Ortiz didn't have a chance to show much of anything. Chagaev has never been great but he's had a respectable career that Ortiz has a long way to go to match.Comment
