Comments Thread For: Algieri Confident His Power Will Keep Pacquiao Honest

WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri is widely regarded as a boxer who in most cases secures his victory with a decision. Only eight of his twenty wins have come by knockout.

He admits that most opponents, and most critics, place their focus on his low percentage of victories inside the limit. That was certainly the case when he stepped in the ring with Ruslan Provodnikov in June. Most expected Provon***ov, one of the most dangerous punchers in boxing, to dismantle Algieri. And that appeared to be the script in first round, when Algieri was badly hurt and went down twice. But then Algieri regrouped and outboxed Provodnikov for an upset twelve round decision.

    Whatever CA........

Whatever CA. I am so tired of you talking. All Manny's opponents say the same thing until the bell rings. Like Mike Tyson said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth". And for the record, you were running for dear life against Ruslan. I thought you won a close comeback fight after being down twice, but you DID run! Manny is faster of hand and foot, he is smarter, he knows how to use your style against you, and in the end; he is going to break you.

Algeri ran just as much as Lara ran from Canelo. I thought he might get the decision (which took a little long to announce) because it was in NY, and I was/am su****ious of why Arum liked a guy so much, that no one else had barely heard about. Algeri got the win, and Lara didn't. I think if Algeri fought Manny the same way, I doubt he gets the decision. If Algeri is smart, he'd take a lesson from Lara, because judges can go either way with fighters who run.

I was 70-30 that Manny would beat Dish Algieri

        Now I'm 60-40 in Manny's favor

This Dish is just too sweet - I can smell an upset brewing

Provo couldn't just walk through him so I think neither Pacquiao can do it. IMO Provo's chin >>> Pac's chin. Pac needs to be outbox Algier with good in and out movement otherwise he will lose. We will see. First I thought this fight is a mismatch but now I give chance to Algieri. Still Pac is the favourite but not so much.

LOL, easy! Why the fuck are you mad at Pac's opponents? They should say: "I'm a heavy underdog and I can't see a chance to win this fight. All hail Pacquiao!", or what? Algieri didn't even talk trash he is just confident in himself and that's cool.

The only difference is Lara actually RAN, Algieri boxed, he sticked and moved Lara runs in fights and didn't even throw many shots agianst Canelo, Algieri was popping the jab,a nd setting off combos on the back foot constantly.

Algieri has a high workrate, Lara seems to just throw flicking jabs and pot shots not many combos.

How hard is it to beat a 14-1 underdog who has never fought at this Catchweight?

It was not the power of Algieris punches that stopped the Russian from waking thru him, it was Algieris moment that bothered him.

Pac will not have the same problem because he is fast of both hand and feet so it will be a completely different fight

This is not Pac for 2009 bro, Pac is slow of hand and foot now. Plus Algieiri is tall and fast he isn;t stationary like Margarito.
