You're wrong. Canelo did actually land a lot, but just power punches, 83% of them were body punches.

Canelo won because his punches were way more meaningful than Lara's pot shots and jabs.

It is pathetic how bad Canelo is at throwing jabs. that is the main reason he suffers vs. technical/defensive fighters such as Mayweather and Lara.
