There's no comparison to this situation since there's nothing prohibiting Maidana from wearing the gloves. You don't tell your opponent what gloves to wear a day before the fight, don't even bring up the Oscar scenario to try to justify it.

He wanted Maidana to use any authorized glove he wants so it was not included in the contract. Unfortunately, Maidana still tried to cheat so May dictated what glove Maidana used. You can't piss the A-side of the fight and get away with it.

This glove bruhaha began when Maidana tried to use the tampered glove later disapproved by the commission. If not for that, I'm sure May had no problem with Maidana using his favorite glove, punchers glove or not.

Less padding around the knuckles gives a fighter a distinct advantage and this could explain why a lot of fighters are knockout artists. If you are a goodor great fighter, you should be able to win with any kind of gloves. If you are only able to win with a glove that gives you an unfair advantage, that is no different than using PEDs or cheating in some other way.

If Maidana were fighting someone without the influence of Mayweather, he would be able to get away with this form of cheating..
