Less padding around the knuckles gives a fighter a distinct advantage and this could explain why a lot of fighters are knockout artists. If you are a goodor great fighter, you should be able to win with any kind of gloves. If you are only able to win with a glove that gives you an unfair advantage, that is no different than using PEDs or cheating in some other way.

If Maidana were fighting someone without the influence of Mayweather, he would be able to get away with this form of cheating.

And gloves with more padding protects a fighter brittle hands, so that way they can throw alot of punches without hurting themselves.
