I think a few Americans were turned off by Lewis' style. He never got as high ratings as the likes of Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe and the American champions of that era. But as Larry Merchant once said, if Lewis had been American his non appealing style would be more appealing.

I agree that Wlad's fights usually stink. And it didn't help him that his last fight on American soil was the Ibragimov unification fight which is probably the worst Wlad fight ever.

      Laced-some perspective and honesty.

Mike Tyson was the single biggest athlete on the planet-I'd argue he was the biggest celebrity on the planet for a few years.

Holyfield was a US Olympian, defeated Tyson, and he and Bowe had an amazing 3 fight series. Some of it was them being from the US, no doubt. But they made and kept fans.

Lennox was far more popular than wlad and he was hated by many US fans. They still always tuned in to watch.

At least we can sit back and watch Frampton vs Martinez now without having to worry about this fight on another channel.

Americans are bitter. Heavyweight was their staple and most loved division with guys like ali and Tyson.so it makes them jealous when they see a non American dominate it. It's very obvious.

Also what's there not to like about wlad? He's intelligent, charismatic, has a great smile, speaks English very fluently, good family values, is very intelligent boxer with very good power and provides the KOs.

His fights are not exciting because there is far too much holding since he changed his style. No one tunes into his fights for all the stuff you listed. You can like wlad that doesn't mean his fights are worth watching.

Klitchkos are still "fighting?" Why? Who even cares outside of Germany? All these years and not one single LEGIT championship. Just go away boys.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wlad lost in the next year or so.

Tunney, i'm not even a ward fan. I simply point out the facts. Maybe this is why his ratings are so low-his in ring style.

As for Floyd, you are entitled to your opinion, despite the fact it isn't shared by the buying public.

Alot of American fighters clinch and they still get more love than wlad and wlad doesn't initiate most of those clinches either. Wlad should be #1 p4p because he is so completely dominant and skilled but everyone in the media are very biased against him and that's the sad truth.
