Cotto didn't look that good, and his handlers have noticed his struggles. That's why he's fighting Malignaggi. I think he will beat Paulie badly, but he still doesn't quite seem ready for the top guys.

Theres nothing wrong with Cotto. He is going to dominate when he gets that big fight. He will shock all the haters. Cotto is powerfull! Very Powerfull! If he tags anyone with a nice clean left hook to the body chaining another to the jaw it is lights out for who ever eats the punch. So what if Cotto got rocked my Corley or Torres. He won didn't he? Same like Trinidad. Cotto is only showing signs!! Signs of a true champion in the making. Only time will tell. And Cotto is taking his time. When his father thinks it's time for him to fight the big guys thenComment

Yep I agree, I had Corley winning 1 round and torres winning 2 rounds. Cotto has blown out almost all of his opponents.Originally posted by IwatchBoxingYet, he won almost every round, and put on a clinc. Even the Torres, and Corley fights he won almost every round.
Some people forget that Cotto was fighting a very defensive fighter in Branco. He was fighting a counter puncher, you cannot just wing out against a counter puncher. He fought smartly. Branco's body language said "ive never been hit this hard, so let me just block....oh **** now my shoulders and arms hurt." Cotto is a ***in powerhouse and he is in every way impressive.
Did you catch when Emmanuel Stuard said "I don't remember the last time a fighter has made so many boxers quit because of his cumulative power."?
Bazan, Ceballos, Branco, Abdulaev, and Bailey all quit because of the utter pain that they were in. Those body shots sound like someone is hitting a snare drum.Comment

Let it be heard, my first bet online, I'm predicting Paulie will pull an upset win over Cotto. I'm really feeling this, though I won't feel the slight bit bad if I'm wrong since I never take bets seriously. Though I see this actually as a bad fight for Cotto to take early on. I know they looking at Paulie as a weak fighter with no pop. Heck they even mentioned they want Cotto to fight nonpunchers for abit. Well, this is going to play against them because Paulie is super quick and technical. He can easily fusturate Cotto and move in and out, off to the sides, letting loose his fast hands. I see Paulie winning it.Comment

excellent analysis and I agree cotto does seem confused and its because of his corner and managment not him he was doing what his corner wanted him to do. One possitive from this experance however is that he now knows he can win a fight in diffrent ways how ever with that said cotto always has had a patient streak in his style but there is not the invincibility that he used to feel. Its very obvious he can be wabbled but he has one of the best survival instints I have seen since holyfield, and just like holyfield he can get hit with a sledge hammer stuble around while defending under pressure get hes legs under him and then **** back kinda like tito as well. Now Torres as we now know is a hellasious puncher and top guys need to bewar of him because if he gets a good trainer that will be scary almost like a bigger verson of pac but with less defence and chin but a good trainer can help his deffence but back to cotto. The kid needs to come to grips with his mortality once he does that he will be a much better fighter if he is so worried about being hit find a trainer that can teach you not to get hit as much but still allow you to employ your natural style. Like I said its not all him his corner is a big part of the problem but what is happening is that he is second guessing his confidence has been shaken and he just needs to buck up and do what he does. Cotto is a star now he realizes that his body can only take him so far his mind must take him the rest of the way and he needs to ditch his corner and get someone in there who will give him that fire back that guy who will not second guess who will go in there and do what he does best. For example manny pac goes balls out every fight and he has been knocked out cold twice agienst much lighter punchers than he is faceing now do you think for one minute that pac is concerned about being hit with a big shot I don't think so because pac is going to go out there no matter what and fight his fight and that is what cotto needs to doOriginally posted by DLTI know the Cotto guys are going to call me a hater again but they are so wrong. Again, I thought this kid had great potential when he came out but to me it seems like he is regressing every fight. Now I know alot of you probally thought he looked great tonight but I didnt. Im seeing a guy who is now confused.
1st he was this great boxer/puncher but then he ran into some solid vets like N'Dou who could take his punch and give it back. Then they put him in with smaller guys who he just tried to come straight out and KO them but they would flip the script on him and he would be in trouble. Now because he has been shook up so much lately, he comes in tonight against a guy who he should just come straight at and put the pressure on but he decides to play it safe, take no chances, and just wear him down. He still got hit too much and took too long to take this guy out who was really made for him.
He is confused because he tried to immediatly KO the guys that he should take his time with because they are either punchers or vets, and now he is trying to mess around and take his time with guys he should just try to immediatly KO. Dude is going backwards and if any of you saw this fight tonight and still think that Malinaggi has no chance then you are insane.
Branco still had some moments and Branco has no power either. Now you bring in Paulie who is a much better boxer then Branco, and you dont think he would give Cotto any problems? It took Cotto 8 rounds to stop Branco and he just stood in front of Cotto all night and it wasnt even a real stoppage. I told you guys it is not that simple to just walk through guys. If Branco can go 8 rounds by standing in front of him the whole fight then Paulie can definatly go the distance if hes moving the whole fight.
He could frustrate Cotto just as much as the Lacy fight. Ofcourse it wont be that bad but Cotto definatly wont dominate this kid. Was I the only guy who was upset that HBO didnt let him be in the Post Fight Interview? That is how you sell the fight. No one has a bigger mouth then Paulie and it was in PR. It wouldve been great to see him and Cotto in the ring face to face giving a interview.
Anyways, I think Cotto is a great fighter but they have protected him so long that he is starting to regress. It is obvious his camp is scared of his chin and they want to stay away from punchers, so Paulie will be the next fight. I think Paulie will win but even if he doesnt then Cotto has to step up the very next fight and atleast take on a 2nd level guy like Gatti.
The more and more I watch this guy, the more and more I think Floyd or Hatton would kill him. I cant believe alot of fans and writers were saying this kid could beat Floyd or give him a run. He better step it up because instead of getting closer to the elite competiton, his skill level is actually going the opposite wayComment

Yeah Cotto won those fights but it also looked like he really only won the fights because he came in as a damn middle weight. He can get away with that with guys who have lesser talent but those bigger names will be just as big as him and way more talented then those other guys. I think even the Cotto fans could admit that things couldve been different if Chop or Torres had a littile more weight to them.Originally posted by UndefeatedTheres nothing wrong with Cotto. As far as your Paulie comments go, they are true but the point is that Paulie is a nobody. No one hardly even knows him and the guy hasnt even faught on HBO yet. Cotto has been hailed to be the next big thing and super star. Thats why you cant judge him and Paulie the same. Everyone is even surprised that Paulie is jumping straight to a big name guy like CottoComment

Torres was just as big as Cotto, Chop won only 1 round against Cotto-who was out boxing, as well as out powering Corley. The Corley fight in no way was close.Originally posted by DLTYeah Cotto won those fights but it also looked like he really only won the fights because he came in as a damn middle weight. If you blame Cotto's wins on his weight, you know very little about boxing.
And by the way, just because a fighter has never fought on HBO does not make them a "no-name", not all fighters have contracts with HBO.
Be careful what you type, you are exposing the lack of knowlegde that you have about boxing.Comment

Who the hell are you talking to, clown? Im not some rookie. I do know what the hell Im talking about. Chop was outboxing Cotto but just couldnt handle him because he was too big. Weight is a big factor in boxing, fool. Alot of guys are dominant strictly because they are so much bigger then everyone they face. Cotto had Chop outweighed by like 15 pounds. If you dont think Corley had his moments then your a fool. Even the announcers said the whole fight that Chop is doing well but he just isnt big enough to hang with Cotto. Even they said if Chop was bigger then Cotto would be in big trouble.Originally posted by machotimeTorres was just as big as Cotto, Chop won only 1 round against Cotto-who was out boxing, as well as out powering Corley. Your also a fool about the HBO thing. I just said HBO because thats what Cotto fights on, idiot. You act like Ive never seen Showtime or anything else. The point is no main stream fans knows Paulie and half of the fans on here had never heard of him or seen him before his last fight.
Stop being a groupie, littile boy and watch your mouth when you talk to me, ******.
Your not the only one on here that disagreed with me but your the only one who acted like a ***** about it. Dont be a *****. *****Comment
