dude, kick back, i'm not basing nothin' off of one fight, i've followed cottos careers since the olympics. this has been a steady, like dlt says, regression over the last year or so, this is not something thats just sprouted - cotto seriously had flashes of pure greatness, SRL type stuff - he still has awesome ability but i THINK that this supposed "cottos best days are behind him" realization is directly attributed w/ weight problems - the mf'er needs to continually be in the gym ala hopkins or pbf.

i hope i'm wrong, i may be a lil' bit more critical cuz hes my favorite fighter but i wouldn't be happier if i was wrong. but i stand by what i type - cotto does not look like the elusive, power-boxing guy who fought sosa, and dismantled all the rest of them. dudes still good, but i think his greatness has stunted for the mean time. hopefully he shows us something against paulie whos a very very good boxer in his own right, if cotto can cut off the ring, move his head and stay out of danger while imposing his will - i'd change my opinion.

yeah even gatti couldn't finish him, give the kid some credit he has fought some pretty solid fighters and he seems to be able to adapt well to a guys style.
Credit to him he removed some demons from his amatuer days too, not an easy thing mentally to do that.

I didnt say Cotto does that every fight. That was my point. I said he is confused because sometimes he does it and sometimes he doesnt but the bad part is most of the times he picks the wrong style. He did try to come straight out and KO Chop & Torres and in turn he almost got KO.

At the end of the day, maybe he just needs to move to 147. Maybe then he will start to again get better and improve

Again, I thought this kid had great potential when he came out but to me it seems like he is regressing every fight. Now I know alot of you probally thought he looked great tonight but I didnt. Im seeing a guy who is now confused.

1st he was this great boxer/puncher but then he ran into some solid vets like N'Dou who could take his punch and give it back. Then they put him in with smaller guys who he just tried to come straight out and KO them but they would flip the script on him and he would be in trouble. Now because he has been shook up so much lately, he comes in tonight against a guy who he should just come straight at and put the pressure on but he decides to play it safe, take no chances, and just wear him down. He still got hit too much and took too long to take this guy out who was really made for him.

He is confused because he tried to immediatly KO the guys that he should take his time with because they are either punchers or vets, and now he is trying to mess around and take his time with guys he should just try to immediatly KO. Dude is going backwards and if any of you saw this fight tonight and still think that Malinaggi has no chance then you are insane.

Branco still had some moments and Branco has no power either. Now you bring in Paulie who is a much better boxer then Branco, and you dont think he would give Cotto any problems? It took Cotto 8 rounds to stop Branco and he just stood in front of Cotto all night and it wasnt even a real stoppage. I told you guys it is not that simple to just walk through guys. If Branco can go 8 rounds by standing in front of him the whole fight then Paulie can definatly go the distance if hes moving the whole fight.

He could frustrate Cotto just as much as the Lacy fight. Ofcourse it wont be that bad but Cotto definatly wont dominate this kid. Was I the only guy who was upset that HBO didnt let him be in the Post Fight Interview? That is how you sell the fight. No one has a bigger mouth then Paulie and it was in PR. It wouldve been great to see him and Cotto in the ring face to face giving a interview.

Anyways, I think Cotto is a great fighter but they have protected him so long that he is starting to regress. It is obvious his camp is scared of his chin and they want to stay away from punchers, so Paulie will be the next fight. I think Paulie will win but even if he doesnt then Cotto has to step up the very next fight and atleast take on a 2nd level guy like Gatti.

The more and more I watch this guy, the more and more I think Floyd or Hatton would kill him. I cant believe alot of fans and writers were saying this kid could beat Floyd or give him a run. He better step it up because instead of getting closer to the elite competiton, his skill level is actually going the opposite way
mayweather would put him out of boxing hatton and even gatti would kill him his defense is straight ****..tzu would kill him too mosley too ..I think magic or whatever the italian dude will box the **** of of cotto unless cotto jumps on him but cotto looks a lot like lacy just bigger then everybody

Cotto looked as mechanical as ever this past weekend.
It really looks to me like he thinks about every single punch he throws.
"O.K., I'll throw this left hook to the head, after I lead with my right, then I'll double it up down to the guy's body."
This may not seem so bad to many of you, but I think this will be his downfall when he faces the best. He can be hit rather easily in between his well thought out combos.

Yet, he won almost every round, and put on a clinc. Even the Torres, and Corley fights he won almost every round.

Against a punchless, fringe contender who would have been handled even easier by Mayweather & Hatton.

Even the Torres, and Corley fights he won almost every round. How are you sure about Hatton, before Hatton beat Tyszu he was called a fluke, and now he can beat everyone. Start thinking for yourself budy.

Paulie has no chance. Ya Accually think Paulie will beat Cotto? I will be happy to take your points by the way.

Relax man. Cotto will have a big fight by the end of this year. Atleast a fight with Gatti might happen if he wins Vs Baldimor or maybe Jose Luis Castillo. For all of ya people who say Cotto doesn't have a chance against either Ricky Hatton,Floyd Mayweather,Jose Luis Castillo and Diego Corrales ya are ******. This is boxing everyone has a chance. Cotto isn't a one dimensonal fighter. He will manage to find a way into hurting his opponents. Cotto has been facing decent opponents lately. Who has Paulie fought? And yet people are saying he could beat Cotto cause he is a good boxer? I mean he is don't get me wrong but do you accually think he could run from Cotto for 12 rounds? Cotto will catch Paulie and end this fight by TKO in the late rounds.

Im willing to take bets for ya who think Paulie will defeat Cotto.
