  • Where is Calzaghe P4P?

Calzaghe's performance was so unexpected and spectacular, against a fighter who has been a demolition crew against solid opposition, that I think he does rank top 10 P4P. No, he's not higher than Mayweather, Wright, or Pac. But when you get down to the Tarver, Castillo, etc range then I think you have to rank Calzaghe in there.

    Why?

Because this is the type of performance that defines the term "Pound for Pound."

Calzaghe rarely took a solid punch, but the few that he did take- like the overhand right in the first rd- he took with no problem. After the fight, his face looked exactly the way it did before the fight.

Calzaghe showed immense skill and professionalism. The way he used his jab, kept Lacy confused and turning.... they way he tied Lacy up when he needed a little break and would rest, then let Lacy go when he was ready to go again and would push him back and hit him- he controlled the fight down to the smallest details like that.

Even the little pscyhe job before the fight about feeling terrible and out of sorts because of the time. That just sounded like a tactical leak to me, so that Lacy could hear it and be surprised by how he jumped on him and kept up an insane pace.

Only the way Pac beat Morales and Castillo's KO of Corrales rank above this performance by P4Per's in the past year.

It was a great win by Calzaghe in which he showed all sorts of stuff champions are made of; however, it was against Jeff Lacy, who probably was more overrated than we think. A dangerous puncher no doubt, but a great boxer? Nah. I'd say Calzaghe is comfortably around 7 or 8. To be great, you must beat greats or look great against good opposition. His best two wins are a washed up Eubank and Lacy. Guys like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Wright, Taylor, Hatton, etc all have better wins.

Somewhere in the top ten, I voted 5-8 simply because it's the virtual median.

9-10 is fair enough, but not top 8.

I find it unreal so many people have him boosted into the top 10 off one fight.

I didn't see many pound for pound lists before today with Lacy on them. How does this vault Joe in?

                  I don't see it.

                  he's between 10 - 20.

                    GTFOOH LOL

Taylor #4? Really... and what has he done other than won 2 fights by a very, very, f'ing very close desisions over a 40+ year old...?

Castillo? Good one... Someone who has 3 losses in his last 12 fights

Wright #1? Because he embarassed Trini..? Well, Lacy completely outclassed Lacy, and?

Oh.. I know...... It's the American, anti-European factor again, that's what it is... the bias view got into your head
