British star Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) still maintains that former champions Devon Alexander and Robert Guerrero are the frontrunners to face him on a Showtime televised date in December. Khan had attempted to get fights with both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, and struck out with both bouts. Pacquiao faces undefeated Chris Algieri on November 22nd and Mayweather will have a rematch with Marcos Maidana on September 13th. [Click Here To Read More]

Okay......AK wanna get a look at another southpaw before fighting the greatest southpaw of the era huh?!?....would make perfect sense if he and Pac mixed next....but if it's Floyd, why another southpaw AK?!?

If Khan beat Alexander now, it won't be as meaningful because Porter already beat him. If Porter wins impressively this Saturday, then I believe he deserves to be next for Mayweather. Khan needs to beat Thurman to make a statement that he's a top 147. Thurman does not have a fight scheduled yet, so he should be the target for Khan. Khan should realize that he's in a competition for Mayweather, and right now Porter is winning. The only way to stay close is beating Thurman.

why not Thurman?
why not winner of Porter-Brook for title?
why not Bradley?
Thurman: first let's be honest, that's ****ing nuts, lol. But honestly if Khan won that fight you'd have a ton of people afterwards saying "well who had Thurman fought?". Khan needs to beat a guy who's a proven commodity to secure the Floyd fight.
Bradley: Cold War ain't over yet. Haymon / Top Rank. And would Bradley even want that coming off a loss?
Porter / Brook: I actually agree with that. That'd be the most preferable option. But do either of them wanna come back and fight again in 3.5 months vs. Khan? He needs a date now and if the winner of Porter-Brook stalled or tried to be difficult in negotiations Khan could get stuck on the shelf again

Most likely Alexander fights Thurman since he seems to be the only person game for it. Golden Boy I think would rather save Alexander for Thurman to keep building him up. The only way this doesn't happen is if Porter demands Thurman which is unlikely.
That leaves Guerrero vs Khan guaranteed unless like I said Brook pulls the upset. Still a great fight but the best match up stylistically for Khan in the top 10.

I disagree. If someone were to ask "well who had Thurman fought?" the answer should be: "Better fighters at WW than Khan." Khan still hasn't made that much noise @ 147. Collazo doesn't get you Mayweather. As you stated, the cold war isn't over yet, so Pacquiao and Bradley are out the picture. It's really Porter or Thurman that make a statement, and Porter is fighting Saturday. Thurman is willing, able, and available. Make it happen!
