How good is Brook? That is yet to be seen. The aforementioned names have all been tested and Brook has not.
I think for Porter to say he's my best opponent would mean the opponent's form on fight night as well as resume. Brook is better the past-prime versions of blown up LW Diaz and JWW Malignaggi. I don't think that Brook is better than Alfonso Gomez should need saying.

The resume for these fighters doesn't matter. They weren't near their peak coming in. Brook is.

Great he beat Devon & Paulie.
He has feasted on weak, small fighters who couldn't crack a damn egg. 140lb non punchers! I don't care who they have fought they have not only lost for most part and it doesn't take away from the fact they are 140lb fighters who have zero power.

Whilst Brook hasn't fought big names he has spent his career fighting big welterweights & light middleweights. Naturally far bigger and stronger men than a non imposing Alexander and shot to bits Paulie who was getting bullied at the lower weights and having many fighters walk through him. Paulie isn't the guy who fought Cotto anymore or the one Hatton smashed, that was his peak. Not now in 2014!

Porter is going to get jabbed too death, frustrated & beaten up by the bigger fighter with the superior boxing ability.

I keep reading that Brook is getting KO'd early. You seriously think he's going down like Paulie? That lunging hook isn't getting to Brook without Porter eating a heavy counter in return.

I keep seeing the same, everywhere that is why I looked at the poll and was shocked it wasn't far more one sided.

He might, I mean its probably possible, its boxing and he does have some power but this stoppage of Paulie has really gone to peoples heads and made them think he is this much bigger puncher than he is.

Paulie's had one hard career. His defense is bad, just because a fighter has a jittery style & have their hands low does mean they're slick or a defensively sound, usually quite the opposite. Hes been in grueling fights spanning a decade plus. Hatton, Cotto, Khan, Cano, Broner, Diaz etc
Only so much a great chin can take before something gives.

Porter is not a big puncher. What power he has IMO comes from his handspeed and literally leaping into his punches, hes not a heavy handed guy or a concussive puncher. Hes not even the puncher in this fight and his chin is every bit as suspect as Brooks, I'd argue Brooks is far more battle tested.
If anybody goes early for me its Porter with all his vulnerabilities and defensive neglect.

I favor porter to win by decision, but he better not be sleeping on brook.. Brook has decent skills and if porter shows up uninterested,mi can see him walking into a lot of brooks shots.

Porter kinda reminds me of a Ray mercer type, win big and then lose to guys like 42 yr old Larry Holmes and Jesse fergueson, but then hang with evander and Lennox.. All due to mental lapses.. Porter better be wary of doing the same thing

On one hand it's kind of shocking that Khan/Guerrero seems to be shaping up (I mean, really...2 solid guys fighting one another? in 2014? ridiculous). but then you just have to stop and think that it's because they know they need to do something drastic in order to legitimize Khan for that Floyd fight next year. Really, the fans are getting dumped on hardcore.

What do you mean? If Khan beats Ghost he deserves Floyd.

Khan vs Floyd a great stylistic match, what else do ''Boxing fans'' want? Its just a matter of Khan earning his shot, which he will.

It's the same for brook, though at least porter has stopped and hurt world level fighters - who has brook actually stopped that is relevant to world level????

If brook is such a puncher why are guys going 5,6,7,8,9 rounds with him - he would have them out earlier - brooks power is massively overrated and will be exposed at world level

however this is a winnable fight for brook because he can box well - and has decent handspeed and footwork - porter lunges in so brook could walk him onto shots. for me it's all about how brook handles the occasion and how he will handle the pressure porter puts him under.

past fights from brooks leads me to feel he's inconsistent and won't be able to win more than 6 rounds against porter who will pressure him and outwork him.

porter for all his limitations has more experience on the big time and has all the home comfort advantages

IF anyone is going to be stopped early it's brook imo - his power is very overrated

my predictions are either porter decision or late TKO

It's not out the question because Brook has little defense and a suspect chin.

So whilst I don't see that happening I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

Not really seen a lot of Porter apart from him decimating Paulie. But before that I wasn't aware he was a puncher.

                    Brook is a puncher.

Yeah like Dan said, it's definitely possible as is anything in our sport. Saying that, I'd personally be shocked if Brook went down like that. Yes he's been touched on the chin and not reacted so well, but I don't think Porter is that big if a puncher either.
