  • Comments Thread For: Porter: Past Opponent More Challenging Than Brook

Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs) views IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs) as his biggest test to date, but the feeling is not mutual. Porter believes opponents like Devon Alexander, Paulie Malignaggi, Alfonso Gomez and Julio Diaz presented bigger challenges. Porter also ended other unbeaten runs, like handing Phil Lo Greco his first defeat last May.

This Saturday it's sink or swim time for Brook, who takes a step up in class when he faces Porter at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Showtime will televise.

This card makes up for the farce we just had this past Saturday.

it does, but it was a mandatory matchup that went to a purse-bid. not exactly something we need to thank al haymon for. we're still getting mediocre matchups on Sept 6th, and a worse than mediocre undercard for Mayweather/Maidana.

On one hand it's kind of shocking that Khan/Guerrero seems to be shaping up (I mean, really...2 solid guys fighting one another? in 2014? ridiculous). but then you just have to stop and think that it's because they know they need to do something drastic in order to legitimize Khan for that Floyd fight next year. Really, the fans are getting dumped on hardcore.

Brook is a better fighter than Paulie, Gomez, and Diaz. The only one on that list that you could make a case for is Alexander.

              Yeah, because he has beaten?.....Exactly.

How good is Brook? That is yet to be seen. The aforementioned names have all been tested and Brook has not.

Brook is also better than Khan, And Diaz Knocked Khan down. But That is besides the point. Porter is going to whoop Kell Brook. The Judges cannot help him.

Fans are so transfixed in Brooks opposition like its the be-all and end all. Resumes don't win fights!

Brook is going to beat Porters ass!

Besides its not like Porters resume is outstanding, the guy has two decent wins over two good yet overrated, limited 140lb'ers with only one win over a prime world class fighter between them.

Paulie's got his ass kicked everytime he has stepped up to world level & outside of gift decisions so has Devon except against Maidana who was very limited & moving up in weight.
