If he won the contest it would look good on his resume.. but I guess he ain't worried about that. Free trip to vegas? Some would do it for that. Especially if the MGM coughs up a concierge package (suite, meal vouchers to fancy restaurants, and a modest complimentary credit in the casino) to augment the Sho offering. Talk to a guest relations of MGM, if your work is hung up in MGM as a result of winning a contest, chances are they'd give freebies. Happens all the time. This is how business is done. You scratch my back I'll scratch yours.

I have nothing against the guy..but he burned bridges for 15 mins of fame. 15 seconds, actually. Having his art on display at the MGM Grand and the freebies that are bound to be associated with it could have been a good time for him..... guess not. He'd rather wallow in witty angst in the East Village.

They were all garbage, apart from one but even that one wasn't good enough. But the difference is that Sho is a massive TV network with a budget, whereas I was just a small-business owner with colossal debt.

I ended up creating the logo myself...
Yeah man I can somewhat see their pov if they were going after amateurs, but they want quality work and expect to treat it like an amateur contest. What makes it more absurd is knowing how insane the budget is for this event and their acting like they're running on a small-business budget.

It's no different than a major construction firm....these companies win $150,000,000 contracts and they are worried about $3,000, trying to beat people down by an additional $300 like it makes a big difference. Like dude said....thanks *****.....just saying.

Yeah.. It's not like his work has a set price. Art value is very subjective as compared to other professions these guys in this thread are using as examples. It's basically whatever you can convince people to shell out. Plus unless it's Da Vinci come back from the dead, ain't no artist gonna be ballin. This guy ain't no art gallery artist... He has had stuff published in the New Yorker! A glorified newspaper.. What'd he get for that? He ballin?

But instead he went the selfish hipster way and tried to look cool in front of his friends instead of helping the ones that could use some help. Money is a huge factor in life, but networking is just as useful for those without money.
Networking.... Exactly! He could be well off (for an artist) or whatever, but a business relationship with Shotime/cbs and MGM could prove to be very lucrative down the stretch. He's thinking short term gratification but if he wins it and turns heads in Vegas, he could land a big account.

                  Ummm... I'm lost.

Was curious and I just looked up this kids site with an open mind.. He does mostly black andd white lettering.... Did they want him to write lettering or what? I thought they were going for something a bit more eye catching... As in likenesses of Floyd and chino...

Why did Sho ask him again? Who is sending these letters and scouting these artists?

A plane ticket, food and a contest where they have the chance to win a gold medal, and you're talking about multi millionaire, not aspiring artist.

Who gives a shyt how much this fight is gonna make, it's a contest, the first sentence in that dumbass letter says so, if you don't want in, just say no, pass it along to someone who coukd use the help.

When this dudes starts making Kobe and Lebron money and has the possibility of ruining his career for a gold medal, holla at me.
You are a fool, truly. NBA players are making millions of dollars a year, and all the expenses are paid and they still get money from Nike in the process. This guy had ZERO guarantee if he was going to paid he would have only gotten those tickets if he "won" their contest.

None of you guys know anyting or do research. The guy has done work for Nike and Victoria Secret and he was... PAID. He isn't some loser on an internet forum trying to build himself, he's already established.
