FWIW when I was working in the IT field, a few companies tried to hustle me like that as well. They basically interviewed me for a job they didn't have any intentions of filling. The company came at me with "well this is a scenario you would be presented with working here, how would you solve it".........basically trying to get me to workout and design a fix to an issue they were having for free.

I pulled their card and say hire me and pay me first and then I will tell you. Needless to say there actions following my comment really let me know what they were about.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they stole his artwork and even if he won, they would have probably gave him the ****iest tickets in the building. That guy is a profession and knows how much artwork like that for a major event cost.

Showtime got the response they deserved for coming at a professional like that.

No, it's his brand. It's hard for you to understand because you obviously just see him as a 'letterist' and don't understand the field of graphic design and communication arts. Any self respecting hardworking professional designer from web design, mobile design, print, video, animation etc. is on his side and he's even been previously vocal against agencies underpaying their own designers so this is not just about showtime and him. It just so happen that of all the artists out there that showtime could've asked for free work, they've asked the WRONG guy. Dan is not being self righteous, he's standing up for real professional designers everywhere - you know the ones that actually uses their design skill as their main source of income.
