Danny likes to catch and shoot which is countering your opponents attack. He returns an attack just about every time his opponent does before they reset....that is counterpunching right? And he throws with his opponent, which can be labeled trading punches which I thought people liked to see. Why does everyone on this site ONLY concentrate on discrediting everyone?

It most definitely is counter punching, it is quite smart too. He knows he has a good chin, and it obviously works for him better than say the Marquez/Mayweather style of countering.

He has excellent timing and a great power and chin to go along with it. Hes going to be a top fighter for quite some time. Deal with it.

One thing I notice about Garcia and I've mentioned it here before, is that although people label him a "counterpuncher", he really isnt. What Danny does is throw WITH his opponent. The minute Danny sees his opponent let his hands go, Danny lets his go as well with little regard for defense. That to me isnt counterpunching. Counterpunching is when you make your opponent miss then make him pay. Floyd is a counterpuncher. JMM is a counterpuncher. Danny Garcia is not a counterpuncher. He's more of a hail mary puncher and has been fortunate enough to land and be able to take a better shot than most of his opponents. If you look at his KO of Khan, that too was a hail mary punch where he just swung when he saw Khan swinging. Hey, I'm not knocking the kid. Whatever works for him works. I just dont understand him being labeled a "counterpuncher" when he clearly isnt one.
he is throwing a left hook over a right hand, he moves his head to the right and throws a hook in the same movement. its his go to punch and he does this against everyone he fights.
against khan and morales 1 he slipped inside an uppercut and against salka he rolled with a right hook. he also threw this counter against matthysse countless times even thought he seldom caught him clean with it.
whether you punch with someone or after doesnt matter its still a counterpunch. it actually takes more skill to punch with someone since you have to evade a punch and land a punch at the same time. but if you get it right its worth the payoff since your opponent seldom sees it coming for the same reason. garcia moving his head to the right makes his opponent look the wrong way as they get clocked from the opposite side too.
its in no way a hail mary punch, its a trained counter and one of the most dangerous weapons in the sport.

He does counter punch at times, he's not great at it but he does it to a decent level.
His timing is very good

"Iwouldn't even call what .... Etc..." <---- That's the problem
Your'e under the impression that your opinion holds some sort of weight.. IT DOESN'T ! . Wether you consider it to be counter punching or not does change the fact that IT IS! the fact that you're trying to even argue that fact shows how little you know about the sport... I'm sure you know all the "players" but you need to brush up on the game.

The butt-hurt is strong in NSB. We'll need to institute a week long mourning here in NSB every time DSG wins.

The moment you see your opponent start to open up then you react and fire is countering your opponent.

Don't mean to call shots but anyone saying good post or agreeing just doesn't know what they are talking about..
A counterpunch in generally a punch thrown to counteract your opponents own punch whether it's thrown after your opponent misses or while he is throwing a punch. I understand your post was meant to sort of down Garcia but in actuality it shines a light on something he does very well.
Iv'e said it before and I will again, Garcias wierd timing is his strongest weapon. It's how he gets guys out of there. He has an excellent ability to anticipate your punch and to match his 'with' yours as opposed to making you miss and countering you after. He basically tries to hit you when he knows you are not in a position to be defensive, i.e. when you are punching. It works really well and i give him credit for it, but it's also the reason why Herrera was able to give him hell. If you take Danny's ability to time you out of the equation, you pretty much have him beat as his unconventional counterpunching timing is really the only thing you can say he does very well.
