Yeah two fights for a minimum of 12 million. Those are slave wages right there Arum is a crook.

Is beyond me how anybody would agree with Blob Arum on this one.

Arum is indeed ruthless, but this is also standard practice, by both GB and TR. It may be the case that Arum is worse, but any pro boxer with even a little bit of experience and knowledge knows this is common practice.

So its a little tough being sympathetic with him. I can feel for Rigo though, and other fighters, who are punished for being too good.

The case with Mikey Garcia and Chavez is different. They just want less risk, more money.

Arum is a snake! Some might say that this is common practice, but it is also common practice for fighters to try to get away from Arum. Look at his list of unsatisfied customers: Oscar, Mayweather, Cotto, Chavez Jr., Rigondeaux, Gamboa, and Mikey Garcia. They can't all be wrong. And don't forget, at one time Manny was signed by GBP also.

Not only is it common practice, it's especially common for Arum to pull. As a fighter signing with Arum, you know exactly what is going on.

And their contracts have minimum guarantees. The offer Arum is giving Chavez is not illegal at all.

Every other fighter is dissatisfied and sues their promoter to break pact like Tim Bradley, and Ward.

The reality is the fighters that sue, are usually the ones that have become bigger in the publics eyes, and think they can get more money elsewhere.

The problem is not the money per se, but the risk associated with that amount of money. Froch and GGG are risky, and that is a risk that Chavez doesn't really need to take, since he is young and has a lot in the bank.

I think Chavez doesn't really want to fight Froch or especially GGG.

I mean, he can make far more fighting Canelo, a much easier fight, against someone much smaller and less strong than those two, and make far more money, and have a good chance at winning.

I don't think he has a good chance at beating Froch, much less GGG.

Chavez Jr becomes more of a joke everytime he opens his mouth. He says that he wants to fight and that he will fight anyone but that he doesn't want to extend his contract, TopRank says "Ok but you must take less money for your final fight" then Chavez turns around and says the money is not right. There are no real issues, the only problem is that Jr is an airhead.

I hope the fight does end up getting made and that Froch wins by KO.

I think boxers should stand against promoters like Arum. In this case Bob should pay Jr. well for his final fight (Froch or Golovkin should pay more than Vera, Rubio, Sergio, etc.) and stop with this condition on signing extensions because that is not ethical. Some people defend Arum with the argument Jr getting 12-15 millions guaranteed with the extension but on the other hand there has been reports also that if Chavez Jr goes to Haymon there is going to be a multiple fight deal for more than 40 millions. Arum should let boxers go at the end of their contracts and pay them well without conditioning then to sign extensions.

That only works for the very elite few (literally like 5 guys). Everyone else needs a promoter who INVESTS in them. Gary Russell vs TBA 22 fights in a row was because he had no promoter. No promoter investing in him there is no incentive for promoters to risk their guys against him cus they get nothing out of it.

Signing a one fight extension is nothing. Arum from a business stand point just wants to keep a star name. Obviously any promoter is going to want to keep a big name. This was part of the reason Oscar fired Richard - it's not smart business to not have contracts.

I know Chavez Jr. has issues, but I don't think he's afraid to fight anyone. He's young enough and exciting enough to fight all three, and I predict he'll do no worse than 1-2. I think Arum is the real problem!
