So either he accepts a mediocre purse for a big fight...or he lets Top Rank tie him down for several years.

    Arum is ruthless.

Sounds like a pretty standard disagreement TBH. It's easy to understand the motives from both parties.

As a boxingfan, i just hope the differences gets resolved.

Chavez owes one more fight to Top Rank, and once completed the Mexican star will become a free agent. When Top Rank tried to make a fight between Chavez and Gennady Golovkin, their talks hit a wall after Chavez rejected any deal which included a contract extension. Top Rank did counter with modified a offer for a single fight with no future options, but Chavez was unhappy with the money.

I just think chavez is a dumb mother f**ker - it's clear as day - yes arum wants to tie him down BUT chavez has been well looked after by top rank who have matched him very well leading upto martinez and then got him the punch bag vera - who he struggled badly with

why does he not sign the extension it's worth a lot of money and he has **** loads of guarantee for the froch fight and for his next fight

for one so untalented he makes a lot of money because of his name

TR easily got rid of Rigo, who wasn't a PPV draw whatsoever.
In Jr's case, instead, TR has to show resolution and ruthlessness -- because Jr is (together with Canelo) the biggest draw for the Mexican public... TR simply cannot capitulate in Al Haymon's favor with this case...

48 have tried and 48 have failed.

Carl Froch can't be the first, but he will be the next.

The offer was supposedly for two more fights, it doesn't take several years to complete that.

And for $15mill. He could've completed that contract before his current one expires in Oct 2015.

Approximately $15 million for 3 fights is pretty nice, but if Chavez thinks he can do better on his own, then let him try. He should take on a low-risk opponent and complete his contract ASAP.
