As was the case earlier this year, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) and Top Rank are holding ground on certain aspects on a proposed deal to face WBA/IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch on January 24th.

Chavez owes one more fight to Top Rank, and once completed the Mexican star will become a free agent. When Top Rank tried to make a fight between Chavez and Gennady Golovkin, their talks hit a wall after Chavez rejected any deal which included a contract extension. TR easily got rid of Rigo, who wasn't a PPV draw whatsoever.
In Jr's case, instead, TR has to show resolution and ruthlessness -- because Jr is (together with Canelo) the biggest draw for the Mexican public... TR simply cannot capitulate in Al Haymon's favor with this case...

Approximately $15 million for 3 fights is pretty nice, but if Chavez thinks he can do better on his own, then let him try. He should take on a low-risk opponent and complete his contract ASAP.
