Comments Thread For: Froch Lacks Fire For DeGale, May Retire if No Chavez Jr.

World super middleweight champion Carl Froch says he may retire if a proposed fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Las Vegas falls through.

Froch, 37, defended his IBF and WBA belts against George Groves at Wembley in May and vowed to finish on a high in Vegas, where he has never fought.

But he is considering quitting because he fears he may never secure a deal to fight Chavez and does not want to face ex-Olympic champion James DeGale.

I don't blame him one bit. It takes a lot of motivation to even watch a DeGale fight, let alone give him a payday and put up with his arse for a mouth.

Froch should fight Sakio Bika in Vegas for the WBC title if he can't get Chavez.

It's not a huge fight but it would be a war to go out on.

A motivated DeGale might be a different story. Him blasting out Brandon Gonzalez was pretty entertaining.

I will be very upset if this is the case.

I want to see him get his dream Vegas fight and go out on that as the Legend he is over here.

Super Middleweight is the UK's richest division in modern history, well Carl Froch is the greatest of them all.

Glad I got to see him perform live in the flesh. What a rollercoaster his career has been.

I don't even know why Froch even wants to fight in Vegas, bad stuff happens there. He should just go there or a weekend vacation and fight in England where he can fill stadiums.

If he's gonna have one last fight it should be against Andre Ward in England. That's his only loss that he hasn't avenged. Even if he loses to Ward again, at least he will know that was just the one guy he couldn't beat but he gave it a shot, and can now bow out gracefully, with nothing left to prove.

He's not going to get it fighting anyone but Chavez, but if he wants to fight there before he retires he's going to have to fight a lesser name.
