Most people probably aren't too keen on the way he won the belt. Martinez was old, weak, and disabled. If Cotto wants to prove he is truly the champion of the division he should fight Golovkin.

The most obvious answer isn't even listed; because it's a good, competitive fight.

What happened to the real fans wanting real fights?
I understand where you're coming from, but as a real fan I can't claim GGG as the true middleweight champion until he beats him. I can make excuses that Cotto beat an old, shot Martinez who has one leg, but the fact remains that he beat the #1 guy at 160. People claim GGG hasn't beaten anyone but then say the #1 guy at 160 shouldn't fight him. How backwards is it that the #2 middleweight shouldn't fight the #1 middleweight because the #1 guy doesn't belong in the division?
