Cotto's Lawyer: Rubio's mandatory fight was only valid if Martinez won

Apparently 'translates'?
wrecking meaning take away didn't Canelo state he wanted the May and Sept days back.
Didn't Canelo-Angulo and Canelo-Lara sell the same as Cotto-Martinez? Cotto is called the 3rd biggest draw. Yet Canelo just matched Cotto-Martinez PPV buys with fighters who have never been on PPV, and nearly doubled the PPV amount sold with their common opponent Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Only time Cotto did better in recent years was with Trout. Cotto-Trout did 1.4 million on the ratings, and Canelo-Trout did 1.1 million.
Canelo and Cotto is a natural fight and it will generate at least 600k PPV's, median prediction is 800k, and if the fight is hyped up and promoted to the max I can see it breaking 1 million and beyond.
Yes because everyone knows the media captured this image of a young hungry fighter in his prime. ..the media sold it well when he fought Mayweather.
Did you see how sh.it that Cotto/Martinez undercard was? Almost every PR fighter was coming off a loss Jorge Melendez, Wilfedo Vasquez Cotto/Martinez basically sold on its own esp being a Top Rank promoted card which there known to do that, provide a dull undercard. GB has options on how to stack an undercard when it comes to Canelo. Everyone rants about how Canelo brought these breaking numbers against Mayweather but that wasn't the case after he took the lose.Last edited by AP♠; 07-31-2014, 01:36 PM.Comment

Cotto vs Bradley for MW is a joke, at least rubio is a legit top 10 MW...Cotto paid Rubio to be a ****ing sparring partner lol, you think he is actually scared of that bleach stained C level fighter? GTFO of here with that ****... All that being said it should be Rubio that he is fighting. Looks like we may still end up getting Cotto vs Bradley after all, for the MW but at least it will be on HBO.Comment

I love how me simply stating that match up happening means I'm proud or happy about it. That fight shouldn't be made, at least not for the MW title but any fight that is on HBO and not PPV is just better news for me.Comment

i have no idea how you feel about it, simply expressing my feelings... the rubio fight is legit , if no canelo fight rubio should be a good scrap , anyone who thinks is easy job is delusional...Comment

Someone already mentioned it. Pacquiao has had two PPVs in December. Mayweather vs Hatton was also in December. There's no reason why Cotto vs Canelo can't be held in that month and be successful.Oh come on.... You just said big money fight. What do you think is bigger money? Like help me understand how December can make more money than May if you're talking from a money standpoint. December in a year that was filled with ppvs and could've sandwhiched between two other ppvs....or may... Where fights sell fairly well for Mexicans on cinco de mayo and the year isn't filled with other ppvs.
Now can you honestly tell me December is better than May? Your honest opinion because I'm fairly sure you're going to go the opposite way just for the hell of it
If they wait until Cinco de Mayo they'll be competing with a Floyd fight which will cut into their sales anyway, so December IS better since they'll have it all to themselves.
The alternative is to wait until the Puerto Rican Day parade which means we'll have to wait almost an entire year for this fight. Cotto might lose or look bad against a healthy middleweight or he might give up the 160 lb belt by then. Why not strike now while the iron is hot?Comment

I agree with that. Maybe it may cut their sales but it will also cut Floyd's sales.Someone already mentioned it. Pacquiao has had two PPVs in December. Mayweather vs Hatton was also in December. There's no reason why Cotto vs Canelo can't be held in that month and be successful.

I must be delusional then.
It wouldn't surprise me if Rubio quits again vs Cotto.
I understand you want your friend to get a payday but outside of some Cotto fans and you, no one wants this fight.Comment
