Comments Thread For: ‘No Rush’ to Pay-Per-View for Gennady Golovkin

Gennady Golovkin could’ve been making his major pay-per-view debut in summer 2014, but when a proposed move to super middleweight to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. failed to come off, Golovkin wound up defending his middleweight title against Daniel Geale instead on HBO.

Golovkin made quick work of Geale this past Saturday. Afterward, his promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, said “there’s no rush” to having Golovkin enter the pay-per-view realm. [Click Here To Read More]

He deserves -- but he isn't and they are... So it goes.

Either K2 are some light weight promotional outfit or they are robbing GGG blind. GGG is already putting up the highest numbers out of all the HBO roster. Haymon would be getting him millions and he would be on PPV already.

HBO can pay GGG relatively little and get great ratings why would they put him on PPV?

GGG showed he can't fill up an arena without a marquee opponent. He gets great ratings on free TV. As of now it doesn't appear paying customers will support his fights in masse.

The best thing for GGG in terms of building him to ppv would be a Froch or Ward fight. Both fights, whether on Free or PPV would be supported by a 24/7. That format would allow people to really get a sense of GG's personality and may connect him to more mainstream fans. Those fans surely wouldn't be turned off by his fighting style.

Unless of course he can get a Cotto or Canelo ppv fight, which don't seem to be in the near future.

I can't wait until we have to pay $75 to watch him fight! I hope it happens as soon as possible!

Why does he deserve it more?

Canelo and Chavez Jr have more fans, and are also entertaining to watch.

Why would anyone want to pay $60 for a 10 min fight?

                    Stick to HBO

GGG should stay on hbo. Pay per views are for fighters with a large fan base on any of those cards he would be favored but he would be the B side
