Cotto vs Chavez Jr. on Dec. 6 ?

Boxrec is just ranking Chavez Jr. #6 at the MW...
The same website just announced a (possible) Cotto vs Chavez Jr. fight at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December the 6th...
Is it reasonable for Cotto to take this fight against a guy who's 6' 1'' feet?

... Is it worth the risk to see that Jr. can't make the 160lb at the weigh in?

Not sure. Need more data to back up the rumor.

Now, Chavez is huge specially when compared to Miguel. Not sure how Cotto would deal with his size. Now, could it be that Cotto is testing the waters vs a huge opponent in preparation to a possible GGG match up?

If they do fight, Cotto by UD.

Anyway, Roach stated that Canelo, Golovkin or Chavez Jr are to be seen as Cotto's next likely opponents... But Canelo is more likely to take such a fight on May, next year... Golovkin? No way...

... And Boxrec just published the Dec. 6 date for a Chavez Jr. fight...
        ... Well...

It seems to me that team Cotto would rather want to lure Canelo earlier into this fight...

I can't even imagine that Cotto is seriously contemplating the LHW Jr.
Chavez is 10' (25cm) bigger than Cotto...

Chavez doesn't have the discipline to make 160 and Cotto has no business above 154. I don't see it.

I agree. Why not fight Canelo in Dec, if victorious go for either Floyd or GGG in May and retire.

Cotto has 50x the skills of Chavez but the disparity in size is way too great. IMHO.

But you can see Cotto forcing Canelo into a December fight, don't you?

As I heard earlier this year, Haymon promised Jr. a huge contract. Maybe Haymon has his own plans with the lineal belt at the MW...

As a Cotto fan, I agree.

He got his belt at MW and made history. Now, if I was him I would give Veneno his chance and get one "legitimate" defense of the MW linear belt. Miguel should come on top over Veneno, then go back to 54 and fight Canelo in May, then Floyd in Sep and retire.
