But what if Chavez has nowhere to go? He dismissed Golovkin, Ward... Maybe he thinks this is worth a try...

He didn't dismiss Golovkin. He dismissed the extension that came with it. Let's keep things clear.

Anyway, I don't know where he goes from here but moving down to 160 would be dumb. And I haven't heard him say he wants to do that but stranger things have happened.

I don't think it's as much of a struggle for him as you think. I think his laziness plays a big part of it.

His stamina and chin has always been fine at 160. Cotto will have to work very hard in this fight.

I don't think it's even possible for Chávez to get to 160 ever again. No way this fight will happen.

He didn't dismiss Golovkin -- he didn't re-sign with TR, which resulted into him not fighting Golovkin... Other nuance, the same outcome.

I said it here: Jr. doesn't make weight, they still fight and they make a big payday.

If I'm not mistaken Chavez was 158 vs. Martinez. It couldn't have been that much of a struggle if he came in 2 pounds under. I'm sure he can still make 160.

Yeah but that fight will have been over two years removed if they do fight Dec 6.

Jr has no discipline and has been really blowing up since then. Its not like he has been working on weight management since 2012. It actually the opposite.

But wasn't Chavez suspended for the use of illegal diuretics?

Canelo already said he wants a big fight next year on a mexican holiday so he can take over mayweathers dates. He's not fighting cotto this year, so cotto will have to settle for Chavez or ggg
