Hahahaha. This is so funny. GGG has seen everything. 350+ amateur fights where he does well against various styles across the board and you chumps think he couldn't do anything on Toney. Too many delusional fanboys. In time, you'll see the greatness that is GGG, I'm not close to being worried about that.
GGG versus James Toney at 160 both prime

Toney murders GGG.Comment

Toney was far superior defensively than GGG. He may have the best chin of all time if not top 5. he had great timing and speed at 160. He also had great stamina back then and beat the great mike mcCallum who also would have beaten GGG's ass. I wanted to make a thread with a good style contrast and I respect the fact that GGG is running roughshod through 160, so i wanted to get opinions on how he'd do against a Defensive counter puncher with a great beard.Geale uses his head and legs. Toney mainly uses upper body movement, much less leg work than Geale. People acting like GGG wouldn't land on Toney are dreaming. GGG has a great jab and excellent accuracy when he doesn't load up. Toney would take punishment, win or lose. GGG isn't some ordinary fighter with average skill and a punch.Comment

Toney still got hit plenty, why do you think he's so punch drunk now? He'd make you miss your combo, and then he'd get tagged by sucker shots. He also missed a lot when he threw his wild punches - let's not rewrite history and act like he was a deadly accurate puncher, because he wasn't. GGG-Toney would be a war.. acting like Toney would dominate GGG with ease is pure fanboy delusion seeing as he never dominated anyone near GGG's calibre with ease.Comment

GGG is 32 with no signature wins. I never said toney would dominate with ease. although at 160 he beat mccallum michael nunn, and was so durable he moved up to heavyweight and had success. toney at middle WAS a devastating accurate puncher. what are you 12? I actually saw his fights young one.Comment

Toney didn't beat Mccallum. Did you even watch the fights? Mccallum outboxed and outworked Toney for long stretches, while Toney landed a good shot every so often.
Toney-GGG would be a glorious war that would go the distance. Toney is durable as hell and GGG has never come close to being hurt. Not sure why it bothers Toney/old school purists unless you're simply insecure. It would be a great fight.Comment

Toney did beat Mccallum twice. Mccallum also said Toney was the best and most complete fighter he ever faced. No need to make up lies by downplaying Toney's skill.Toney didn't beat Mccallum. Who is downplaying anything? Again, overly sensitive. People on both sides who think either Toney or GGG runs through one another are delusional fanboys.Comment
