Hahahaha. That's just what I was thinking. "I'm curious to know why Drakulich deducted points. Clinching is legal." Lolol

      • Was a good fight except Dracula's for interventions.

        • Seriously, like how do you stay motivated to keep boxing after a bull**** lost like this? How?!

Money I guess. I think Chaves will be asked back, that was entertaining in between the poor reffing.

            I wouldn't mind seeing Alvarado v Chaves.

For some people its about more than just money. Some people actually care about winning too.

              • I wish people would stfu about this being a dirty fight. This is boxing, not a game of dominoes. Both guys were responsible for it and it's nothing new. It's a part of the game. The ref was an absolute joke though.

Chaves was winning the fight even with the BS point deductions, if you ignore the point deductions he was winning by quite a clear margin. An immediate rematch is necessary.

                • Chaves could not handle rios on the inside, his only option was to clinch and hold because he would of got busted up otherwise. SMH was looking forward to this fight. If Chaves just box and move he probably wins by a couple of rounds but he just straight up b1tched out. Rios needs to move down to 140 and fight Provodnikov next.

                  • For better or worse, Chaves isn't Maidana or Matts. Those two have shown that they'll bite down and wade through the mud. Chaves fought Thurman, did well but ultimately got stopped. He comes in and fights a Rios who's coming from a lay-off, and just couldn't take advantage of the opportunity. He relied too much on clinching and not enough on smothering/countering. Then he loses in such a ridiculous fashion. His inexperience and stamina did him in tonight, and there's a chance we might not see him on TV again.

                    • I honestly didn't like the DQ. I didn't like the way Vic was controlling the fight, he was clearly susceptible to Rios and Garcia and their constant suggestions of Chaves being dirty. I don't feel like Chaves did anything that I would consider so far outside the rules that it warranted points being taken away let alone a DQ. That being said, I don't think Rios deserved to have a point taken away either. The holding just wasn't excessive.

I feel like if Chaves was fighting anyone but Rios (a face first, very one dimensional) then he wouldn't have had points taken off him. Everyone wanted a brawl and when Chaves was fighting smart, sticking and moving, turning Rios, and clinching (which is perfectly acceptable), he was penalized for it. Hell, if it wasn't Chaves, if it was Abril or Algeri...do you think they would have taken points off them?

People wanted a blood bath, after the first round Chaves started to try and alter his game plan, and it was clearly frustrating Rios (hence the whining about holding). I think that influenced Vic and ultimately lead to the DQ in the 9th.

We couldn't even see what Rios was suggesting Chaves was doing...

I think if they fight again, Chaves can win an easy points victory if he boxes the way he was in the mid rounds.
