That being said, I don't think Rios deserved to have a point taken away either. The holding just wasn't excessive.

I feel like if Chaves was fighting anyone but Rios (a face first, very one dimensional) then he wouldn't have had points taken off him. Everyone wanted a brawl and when Chaves was fighting smart, sticking and moving, turning Rios, and clinching (which is perfectly acceptable), he was penalized for it. Hell, if it wasn't Chaves, if it was Abril or Algeri...do you think they would have taken points off them?

People wanted a blood bath, after the first round Chaves started to try and alter his game plan, and it was clearly frustrating Rios (hence the whining about holding). I think that influenced Vic and ultimately lead to the DQ in the 9th.

We couldn't even see what Rios was suggesting Chaves was doing...

I think if they fight again, Chaves can win an easy points victory if he boxes the way he was in the mid rounds.
The fight was just absolute utter bull****.
I can't even get mad with it, that is the sad thing I've became use to this type of crap happening all the time so to see Vic ruin a fight by blatantly favouring one fighter over the other... not like we've not seen it happen before?

Vic should be questioned for his action and possibly banned from the sport but this isn't the real world is it, he will be allowed to carry on with his corrupt ways whenever he has someone influencing his decisions $$$$$$$

Then he loses in such a ridiculous fashion. His inexperience and stamina did him in tonight, and there's a chance we might not see him on TV again.
To be honest, Matthysse and Maidana haven't faced anyone like Rios. What else was Chaves supposed to do? He was in there swinging for the fences. Taking some to give his. Rios is not a guy that you can just stop.

True but it was still silly that some people said Chaves was the best Argentine based on a loss by Keith Thurman. maidana and Lucas have wins over good opponents.

                      Maidana for one, stops Rios.

Rios has no defense. Maidana would land his best punches at will which is a sight better than Chaves's. Really a taylor made opponent for Maidana.
