I think Matts/Maidana have the experience and temperament to cope with someone like Rios. Chaves didn't look like he knew exactly what he wanted to do. He can punch, but he doesn't have the stamina to be a pressure fighter. He doesn't have the speed/agility or the IQ to completely outbox Rios. Does Rios punch that hard that Chaves needed to clinch and move as much as he did? He'd probably do better next time, but who knows if he gets another chance.

Maidana landing the way he does and Rios being the punching bag we all know him to be, it would be brutal and at least ot me pointless.
Even this fight against Chaves, Chaves was landing on him and outboxing him, and as the fight got closer to the end it was obvious that Chaves would win, so they went for the DQ. Its one thing to be a bit rough, even a bit dirty, but to win by DQ and doing so the way Rios did, it was obvious to me that even Rios was embrased by it.Comment

But he was outboxing him, especially in the last couple rounds it was clear that he was avoiding him while landing some powerful shots of his own, and he was either going to win what was left of the fight of maybe even KO Rios.I think Matts/Maidana have the experience and temperament to cope with someone like Rios. I just dont see whats left for Rios. The guy is likeable (although I didnt lik eall the shouting complaining and bching he did last night) but he's just not good enough and it seems you cant throw a punch without hitting him. Lots of heart though, and tough chin, but stopping punches with your face isnt much of a defense plan. Its not his style as Robert Garcia said, thats just Rios defense sucking.Comment

Disagree with the DQ. Chaves seemed to be tiring but I thought he had a slight lead despite his spoiling tactics being annoying at times. I would've expected Rios to win in a 12 rounder but with only 2 rounds left it's hard to say and the ref's handling of the fight means we'll never know.
Hopefully it'll be Rios-Provodnikov next.Comment

I can not agree with this right here..Maidana has done nothing to suggest that he's in another class then Rios Prov or Matt's..I would actually love to see any of these fights..Esp Maidana vs Prov..Comment

Again what can you point to,to back up this opinion??Maidana never fought a young relentless fighter like Rios..So to hand Maidana a victory over him(esp when this will be a battle fought in a phone both)is a bit ridiculous..Maidana landing the way he does and Rios being the punching bag we all know him to be, it would be brutal and at least ot me pointless.

Styles make fights and these two have a style that favors the other fighter..Meaning fireworks automatically..A sure win for either is something that this match does not present at all..Comment

I don't think anyone at 147 can KO Rios tbh. Thurman might be able to stop him on his feet, but I'm not sure. Not many can take a beating like him.Comment
