He still couldve fought margarito and then de la hoya. nope he ducked margarito a 3rd time and fought de la hoya at a higher weight class for more money. Ducked P williams at 147 and chose to fight 140 lb champ ricky hatton at 147 lbs limit. Called out, signed contract fight to fight winky wright, pulled out of the fight and ducked him to fight sharmba mitchell (the same mitchell that knocked his uncle out). "In 2007-08, Cotto was the next best welterweight in the world behind Mayweather. A thrilling fighter during his 140lbs title run, he had moved up in weight and easily disposed of Quintana, smashed the over-matched Urkal, stopped Judah and then beaten a resurgent Mosley in an excellent bout. He was by any definition the most deserving fighter to face Mayweather and, with the rabid Puerto Rican fans behind him, he was a legitimate superstar who brought serious financial clout as well. There was no reason for the bout not to be made. But Mayweather instead signed for a pointless rematch with De La Hoya.

Seemingly this wasn't the end of the world for the bout. After all, Mayweather would surely beat De La Hoya and Cotto only had to get through Alfonso Gomez (which he did with ease) and then the two would match up. It was obvious. Then Mayweather "retired" instead of taking the second De La Hoya bout."
      Regarding the ducked Margarito horse****...

"Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million."

Considering how much Floyd makes these days, I think Arum should've paid him what the **** he wanted. What's Margarito up to these days, anyway? It must hurt to get hyped to death by Arum, only to get exposed for the cheating fraud he is, and subsequently getting destroyed twice. LOL

As for "ducking" Cotto, this is from an ESPN interview....

Was the Mayweather fight one that you pushed for through the years at any point behind the scenes with Bob Arum?

Cotto: I NEVER pushed for it at any time before. I would just see what is the best fight that I can get fight by fight. This one is the best one for me now. This is the best chapter in my career so far.

So from Cotto's own mouth, he admitted that he didn't ask to fight Mayweather at any point. But I guess that's Floyd's fault too, eh? Btw, it should be pointed out that when Miguel left Top Rank, the Mayweather fight was made in a few days.

            Maidana vs Mayweather

I hope Mayweather loses. Mayweather is so afraid of Pacquiao. I have no respect for Mayweather.

God knows why world class trainers get things like this wrong? Its obvious you need speed against Floyd.

How on earth did Maidana think size would be an advantage over Floyd? That's like JMM thinking he should come into the ring at 160 and think it will give him an advantage over Floyd? If you are naturally smaller than someone coming in extra big wont make you a better fighter that is obvious to even me or someone who don't box or fight.

I usually avoid these threads where evreryone is so ****sure and such an expert. But what the heck.

First off its assumed that Floyd will make adjustments because? he says so. Where is there any evidence that Floyd has you figured out during a rematch? People confuse Floyd's adaptive reactive tendencies with a skill that guys like Bernard Hopkins have to figure out a fighter over a certain amount of rounds....Tunney beat Grebb that way...But its not necessarily in Floyd's playbook.

Floyd is underestimating Maidanna. Maidanna is indeed ackward and hard to set up but guess what? that is not going to change. Floyd cannot Ko Maidanna, how is he going to keep Maidanna off of him exactly? Let me guess....by keeping the fight in the middle of the ring right?

Heres the problem with that. Ackward Madianna actually has a pretty damn good jab. Floyd gets flustered at times because his style has a certain weakness against countering off a good jab. Madianna was able to use his jab to back Floyd up, its on the tape.

Floyd has actually run a cropper of a pretty good pressure fighter. And Madianna's team is absolutely right. madianna does not need weight to pressure Floyd he needs to be relentless about it from the first bell to the 13th round! yeah the 13th round!!! If he does this he can at least doa s well as last time where he may have beaten Floyd, but at least was competative with Floyd.

Finally. The difference between Hatton and madianna is that hatton was not really ackward. He came straight up the pike and when he wasn't dry humping he was quick enough of foot and hand to pressure off a straight line. Well....that check hook was just the thing to beat a guy who was coming with no angles, straight at you. Madianna is acward, he comes at angles, throws shots that loopity loop around and is good at getting his guy to back up. Floyd is not ****** like Bronner was...trying to outrun a punch that is looping by going straight back....But Floyd is not as fast as people think...he depends a lot on potshotting a counter shot over the other guy which usually stops the other guy flat....aint gonna stop Madianna though.

Floyd may have bit off more than he can chew here.

Quite possible. Maidana was not fazed too much when he got hit flush by floyd. I think he has to counter Floyd's counters a little more then look for the big left hook. Floyd I always felt was a sitting duck for the left hook. I think he has to make floyd open up a little earlier to make it happen though
