Comments Thread For: Garcia Plans For Speed: Mayweather Not That Strong

Trainer Robert Garcia admits he made a miscalculation for the first fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs). Maidana came in extra heavy, to have a size advantage and because they anticipated Mayweather to be much stronger than he actually was. Because of the extra weight, Maidana (35-4, 31KOs) wasn't as a fast he wanted to be and he tired in the second half of the fight.

I seen the Interview where Maidana says Mayweather has absolutely no power that he didnt feel it and that Broner has alot more power then Mayweather does.

I think Maidana should scrap the overhand left. Something not so over, but quicker to the point.. Down low then up. He did that multiple times in the fight and that's when it landed. He would go low to the body with 2-3 shots then come up with a perfect hook and connect. He should not smother his work either and keep the jab pumping while Floyd is against the ropes.

He really needs to use that uppercut if he has Floyd against the ropes, Floyd was wide open for it many times during the fight.

Better work for endurance and stamina, avoiding body shots, and working behind the jab.. Those will be the keys to victory for Maidana, not being quicker than floyd
