Not saying he's not good, but Alexander and Paulie are not as good as Brook.
on paper alexander is certainly better than brook. i don't think it's a foregone conclusion that brook would have beaten alexander if their fight hadn't fallen apart, even though i'd guess that alexander's style would play into brook's hands somewhat

Porter dismantled everything known to be effective about Alexander. His chin is pretty good, and Porter was rocking him left and right. His strength allows him to clinch and spoil anyone, and Porter manhandled him. He's quick when he's running, and he couldn't create any distance with Porter.

That was a pretty good win for Porter, and worth giving him some hype. People talk Paulie, but I'm talking Alexander.
Well, Porter didn't really look good against Alexander either? It was an ugly fight, he just threw the better punches and hurt Alexander a couple of times. I don't think he "dominated" him per such.

Well we've seen Alexander clinch and spoil against 140 lbers. When has he done that against a genuine top welterweight? He beat Maidana but that was really more two 140 lbers trying it out at WW for the first time. Maidana wasn't comfortable at the weight then.

But regardless, I agree in that Alexander is a much better win, and more telling than the Paulie win. And i'm not saying it's not a good win, because of course it is. But Alexander is not really a TOP fighter by any stretch. I never felt he was.

I think Brook would've handled the much smaller Alexander with ease to be honest. Brook is way too strong and hits way too hard to be troubled by Alexander's spoiler tactics. I was confident of that fight from the beginning, and I remember a lot of people on this site saying Alexander would win easily, because he'd beaten the shell of Randall Bailey. I mean, I think Brook would just have no trouble with him at all - but I could be wrong.

If I remember correctly it was 2007 in York Hall.

And yes, DeGale absolutely smashed him.

Nobody else think Porter is really overrated? His resume is far from impressive and his style isnt anything special.

I think if he fights an elite guy and isnt able to overwhelm him he will really be exposed.

I am expecting Brook to survive the early onslaught and then outbox him to a decision.

Porter is like the welterweight Curtis Stevens in that you can't believe he used to fight so high in weight. He's so short it's hard to think about him fighting at middleweight.

I think if you have good timing and reflexes it's possible to make Porter look silly. I can't see a top top fighter letting porter in with those leaping lefts of his. He fights a risky fight that he has managed to get away with due to the opposition.
I'm not saying Brook has those skills necessarily, but you never know, Brook could turn up and put in a career defining performance.

I would still bet on a Porter win though
