Does Brook have a questionable chin? The first fight I've watched of his was against Senchenko

I wouldn't say he's faced anyone you could even call a puncher. His defence and head movement are pretty non existent. Chin straight up in the air, asking to have a leaping left hook bounce off it.Comment

So you're implying that a professional boxer wasn't capable of hurting another boxer? Come on man, Paulie got mauled because he was **** that night. It was clear what Porter was going to do in that fight, and he did it.Power is not something you progress - either you're a puncher or you aren't. Especially over a period of 2 fights. He's never shown that kind of punching ability ever. Amateur or pro. I mean, he almost put Paulie into a coma, and he had blood on his brain after the fight. It just doesn't make sense to me.
And then there's all the PED testing issues.
It stinks to high heaven.
Stick with the testing angle, it has more legs.Comment

I have this feeling that Brook will win. I'm rooting for Porter, but after watching his fight against Juan Diaz, I was a quite unimpressed. Of course since then we know he won two big fights.
Also Porter is 5'5. He's a short welter. I don't have anything against Brook, only that he will take the belt back to Britain and mainly fight domestic opponents, which is his right.
This is one of my most anticipated fights this year. This is the belt that Keith Thurman is the mando for, or on track to be the mando, right?Comment

Heart says that both are good boxers but Brook has the edge. Head says Porter steamrollers him like he did Paulie.Comment

Having a similar style and being good at executing it are two different things. Broner also has the Mayweather style, but really what was it worth?
Not true at all. Even Alfonso Gomez was two inch taller. Devon, Diaz and Paulie were all an inch taller than Porter.
Porter's limited experience as you put it holds more value than Kell's.
Diaz, Alexander, Malignaggi are all world champions and have competed at a high level. Even Alfonso Gomez has been in with guys like Cotto and is supposed to be banana skin for anyone.
I'm replying late, but I see you bring up his performance against Diaz in the following posts. Diaz has world championship level experience and Porter fought him in his 19th fight as an apprenticeship bout. Brook was boxing Stuart Elwell for the British title in his 19th fight.
Julio Diaz has a higher KO % than Kell Brook, so not every single guy. Then again Porter didn't take 32 fights to get to a title either.
Porter was not protected at least up till now. He only has 24 fights, so when he gets to 32 we'll see how he compares with Kell.
If Brook was, so good they would've matched him with Bundu for the European title and not Jones (2nd time) and Robles.
Senchenko was stopped by Paulie of all people, so what does that even say about Brook's biggest win to date?
Both Devon and Paulie may not be elite or great, but again whom has Brook ever faced?
I'm honestly not a fan of either and don't think that highly of Porter, but compared to Brook he is definitely better given he has faced better opposition. Even the journeymen in the Americas (especially U.S. and Canada) try to win their fights and don't have 3-200 records.Last edited by Box-Office; 08-04-2014, 03:43 PM.Comment
