Canelo shouldn't be on ppv to begin with but secondly it was against a cuban. The only way he is going to get numbers is against an American or another Mexican. If it isn't against someone of those two nations I wouldn't bother trying to continue to jam him down everyones throat. He isn't a legit ppv draw yet unless he has a good amount of help.
So Canelo wouldn't draw if he were to fight Manny, Cotto or GGG?
My guy Glaser is at it again. He slowed Espinzoa's whole sh/t up when he hit us with the scoop on Mayweather Maidana doing 854k. He's got SHO shook scared to even talk about numbers now.
Espinoza is going to put Canelo on regular SHO this winter. It makes the most sense to do so as well. Fighting a guy like Lara obviously hurt the PPV buys, but SHO isn't building any stars on their network at the moment. The only fighters getting showcased on a steady basis are old man Hopkins, and identity crisis/bum fighting Quillin. Canelo's in the perfect situation to be the network star, he just has to put some of his pride away and fight the next couple of times off of PPV before he goes back (i.e. Cotto, or other big name/big money fights)
Low numbers but it looks like PPV numbers in general are taking a hit. Mayweather and Pacquiao's last fights couldn't hit a million, Cotto-Martinez relatively bombed and now the supposed next boxing star racked up some mediocre numbers. Guess people are tired of spending money on something you can get for free online (like I do).
Youre probably right but I think there are still people who don't mind buying the PPV fights as long as they are worthy of PPV, we just don't see it much anymore.
When you put garbage fights on PPV nobody wants to buy them and for good reason. Im not saying Canelo-Lara was a garbage fight but it shouldn't have been a PPV.
Im not the type to care about PPV buys and stuff like that but I do like hearing the bad PPVs and the terrible matchups had low ratings, its the only way they will stop doing it, as long as people watch and pay for it we will continue to get **** fights.
lol not quite yet but Canelo is only starting. What PPV numbers did Pacquiao and Mayweather do at 23 years old?
Floyd's first PPV fight came at 28 years old and he was the B-side to Arturo Gatti, his next PPV fight was at 30 years old and again he was the B-side to Oscar De La Hoya.
Pacquiao's first PPV fight came at 27 years old and he was the B-side.
You're wrong.
Mayweather's 2nd and 3rd PPVs were against Judah and Baldomir and he was the A-side in both. 375K and 325K respectively.
Lmao at people saying Canelo is doing "good" with these numbers. The problem isn't that this was his first PPV, it was his 3rd which dropped off by 2 million buys from his first fight.
Look at the PPV cards so far this year. might as well pay that xtra $50-$70 per month on your bill. It seems like ppl are choosing which fights to pay for this year.
March PPV - Canelo vs Angulo
April PPV - Pacquiao vs Bradley
May PPV - Mayweather vs Maidana
June PPV - Cotto vs Martinez
July PPV - Canelo vs Lara
Aug PPV (none)
Sep PPV - Mayweather vs Maidana II
Nov PPV - Pacquiao vs Algieri
Dec PPV possibly Cotto or another Canelo fight.
Lets not hope Marquez vs Garcia gets made because that too might get thrown as a PPV.

am I forgetting one?
If Froch vs JCC Jr gets made, I'm pretty sure thats gonna be on PPV
If that's true, the fight pretty much did what I felt would be the best case scenario. I thought 250k-300k would be amazing numbers, and I thought that would be tops. Some people thought it would do 350-400k for some reason. Not even DLH with the Hernandez's, Ruelas's, and Leija's of the world could do 350-400k.
That was clearly all Canelo IMO. 250-300k is like Mayweather/Pac type numbers back when they were in there 20s as well(Mayweather age 28+). Canelo's numbers will get better, especially with Cotto, Mayweather II, Maidana(In some crazy scenario where he beats Mayweather), Bradley and possibly Golovkin on the horizon. I can see those fights doing 800-1million(Cotto), 1.5-1.8 million(Mayweather), 500-600k(Maidana), 500-600k(Bradley) and 350-400k (Golovkin).
