Rigo is great, just not that great

this is what a lot of people aren't understanding about this thread..........it has nothing to do with resume. it's "is rigo the best p4p pure boxer"

i"m sure there was someone who was A better pure boxer of the last 25 years but it's hard to see. rigo is A better pure boxer then mayweather, popkins, ward, roy, & pernell. rigo sticks almost strictly to pure boxing and he's blistering at it. mayweather fights according to the style and he sometimes gets himself in brawls (cotto) thats not a straight up "pure" boxer. the same for jones hopkins & ward. Pernell is the closest to rigo in terms of "pure" boxing but he was more of a awkward hard to hit guy. rigo is standing straight up and doing strictly pure boxing. he's hard to beat because he's so d@mn good at it...........sometimes you don't need a bunch of adjustments. sometimes you can be so d@mn talented in your first style that no one can do anything about it. he's a freak of nature in that sense.

are you going to ignore the fact that we're forced to look at that fight because rigondeaux has done virtually nothing when compared to historic greats?

cordoba is one of his best wins, FFS.

Yes, 7 fights in FFS. No one else out there is winning world titles, comfortably defending them and battering the no.1 ranked fighter of their division after a handful of fights.

Rigo has wins over Frampton and LSC by default.

This is an excellent point. I'm just going to sit back and wait to see somebody refute it.

People in this thread are so focused on "resume", "ranking", "versatility", etc. but it has nothing to do with the thread premise.

I'm not oblivious to that at all, I don't think anyone is but when Mayweather, Hopkins or Whitaker stick and move, they show far more versatility in that approach than Rigondeaux. Hence, absolutely no way Rigondeaux is the best pure boxer.

I think so. I can't pinpoint what it is, But Rigo leaves some of the best offensive fighters stuck afraid to fire punches. Granted Donaire has looked like he fell in love with his power before Rigo, the undressing of such a highly regarded fighter was mesmerizing to observe.

But if you want a true testament of just how precise Rigo is, what he did to Agbeko more than demonstrates his talent. When you reduce a volume puncher who's usually capable of well over 80 punches a round to less than half that, it says volumes.

Not really because Agbeko is pretty far past it.

the thread is about the best pure boxers of the last 25 years, not the best boxers in a ratio with how many fights they've got.
