The Sanders fight could never be described as a "fluke" by any sane person. Sanders comprehensively outboxed and destroyed prime Wlad. He had(and still doesn't) have any defense for the left cross coming from a southpaw. Sanders KOs Wlad 10/10 times. That's why Wlad and his promoter never exersiced the instant rematch clause which Sanders was always willing to accept. Big brother again had to be called in.

Scott's not as bad a Wlad fanboy as the other clowns on this thread tbf, at least he gives decent analysis as to why he thinks Wlad will win, rather than just blindly stating that Fury is rubbish.

It's all about the mental aspect and to this day Wladimir is FUMING that they Haye-Fury fight didn't happen.

Wlad fought Wach simply because he's a big guy and he wanted to prepare for the wrath of Fury in 2013, to be fair he probably would've beat Fury in 2013 but he would've preferred someone else to do the dirty work for him while he fought the mighty Pianeta. As we know the big money Haye-Fury was going to happen and the chances were that Haye would've knock out the erratic Fury, and with a monster 5 million payday who knows whether Fury would have ever been back to his best? Most likely, Fury would have been out of the way and Wladimir could sleep well at night.

Instead, Fury had to come back and appreciate his craft even more in order to position himself for a great payday. Now we're here in late 2015 and Fury is on the brink of greatness.

Physical prime means nothing when you are getting hit by flush power shots that you are unable to defend - or rather don't know HOW to defend. 'Prime' Wlad was likely the 35 year old version that fought Haye - perfectly balanced in terms of physical peak and also mental strength and knowledge of how to overcome certain situations. Haye probably could have knocked out Wlad also had it been the 28/29 year old version or whatever he was when he fought Sanders.

The fact that Wlad's defense is holding or clinching is quite irrelevant, because at the end of the day it is very likely if Wlad knew to do that as an almost reflexive action as it seems to be now, he likely wouldn't have got into the escalating situation with Sanders where he, as he openly admitted, got pissed off and shocked that this seemingly old, end of career South African could drop him. So he went right back for revenge rather than worrying about jabbing to maintain distance or even clinch as he would have done in the 'prime' Steward-tutelage years.

I don't think anyone would say Wlad is 'prime' right now, but that's still enough to be at the top of this current division, and I'm certain is enough to beat Fury.

Find any one performance from the last 10 years and compare it to before Wlad last lost, he's a different animal. If you can't see that I can't help you. I'm 33 year old, I am as fit as I was in my twenties yet feel stronger than I ever have, I feel I'm in my physical prime right now, in fact I know I am, long may it continue. You can't tell me I was in my prime in my twenties just because I was younger, it not only does not make sense it is ******, as I have said previously !

wlad wasnt in his prime in his mid to late 20's. His prime was in his 30's and hes at his peak now. Kind of like lennox lewis he got better as he got older.
