Many times these guys are spoilers because they are able to beat good punchers by out working them.
Theb problem is that this style does not emphasize how to move in the ring. These guys tend to stand still and square...One can watch how the great Cuban heavyweights used reach and speed to run circles around these guys. Talented fighters tend to improve upon this base of tecniques and and learn to do things like improvise.
Pulov is actually a lot like Vlad. They both emphasize the punches and good form. Vlad has developed an exellent jab and power in this capacity. Pulov, while less than Vlad, had similar attributes.
BUT: neither guy can move, has any footwork to speak of. Pulov stood still and Vlad also can clinch and do little else and that is what makes Fury unique. Fury's trainers have a boxing education and have made sure Fury has a wealth of different skills to draw upon. Fury may not be the best at these skills but he is capable of using them under pressure, so he may rely upon them.
Picture for a second if Berto had been able to atg least fight inside when Floyd illegally elbowed him...or if Berto had the footwork to back up when punching instead of letting Floyd react to his punches (Floyd on back leg can see shoulder move) and smother them. He would have been more succesful.
Fury can do these things while Pulov cannot. Some of us on here believe that Vlad is very weak in these other areas which means that if Fury is able to execute aned stop Vlad from illegal clinches, he should have success. Its not just moving past Vlad's jab either..it means setting traps, feinting and knowing the proper distance when getting an opportunity to attack. Fury has been mastering these skills, unlike any Eastern Euro/Russian style fighter such as Pulov.
