So the WBC came to Floyd and said defend at 147? I thought Floyd was his own boss... well Haymon is but Floyd thinks he is.

he genius, if you go over the 147 pound limit then you cannot be defending your 147 pound title

accommodating this request would defy the laws of logic

Floyd should just give up the 154 titles. Who cares??? He already beat Canelo.

If Lara beats Canelo, he can always go back there and fight him if he wants.

For the record, Maidana is a much bigger guy then Floyd. So even if the fight was at 148, that wouldnt actually be an advantage for Floyd.

In other words, save the excuses, this will have no effect on the outcome of the fight.

The WBC sets the rules for their belts and they have for years long before Haymon came on the scene. They sanction and strip who they want when they want to. It's not a difficult concept.

That's what I think as well. If this is true then Mayweather should be ashamed of himself to try and pull off a cheap trick. Maidana is not a 154 pound contender and he has never defeated any fighter over welterweight. If Mayweather is a real champ who fights for the fans and is TBE and all that BS then he will defend his 154 pound title against the Lara-Canelo winner in May 2015 at the standard 154 pound limit or give up his 154 pound title now.

But the WBC wants the Jr Middleweight belt off Floyd to make Bradley/Cotto fight a title fight , then the winner take on Canelo in the future (Cotto not staying at 160)..Floyd want to stop those plans by making his fight with Maidana over 147 making that an official Jr Middleweight fight.

and fight canelo at 152? a canelo-floyd fight is much bigger than any of the belts but if he wants to keep that belt then defend it at the right weight...

Belts are just for collecting dust doe

He should drop the belt and let others fight for it, or maybe you know, fight a JMW

What baffles me is when Pacquiao was bumped to number 1 mandatory challenger by the WBC for Floyds belt, Floyd said he would vacate the belt and said belts don't mean anything, why is he holding onto the belt at 147 and 154?
