You haters don't know squat about boxing. Mayweather wanted a $10 million guarantee for a Cotto fight back then, but Arum declined. Mayweather walked and went for the mega paydays after that.

Mayweather beats any version of Cotto because any version of Cotto get hit about the same, which is a lot, and gas easily. The WW version of Cotto could not keep up with the movement of a WW version of Mayweather. We all saw what happened at the Jr MW version. If you're using a win over Delvin Rodriguez and a very limited Martinez as a gauge for how the MW version would play out then good luck with that.

The issue is that the current version of Cotto that busted up a middleweight, against a slowing Mayweather whose skills heavily rely on speed is a closer fight.
After Cotto's performance I didn't think Mayweather would take the fight. It's too risky now.

I honestly believe that when Floyd did fight Cotto, that was the best version I'd ever seen, against the best fighter he'd ever fought, coming off the most satisfying, confidence building victory of his career.

It wasn't the 140 version fighting largely a hunch if stiffs. He had great stamina, a better, more educated arsenal than at 140/147. He fought what is easily among the best fights of his life, and if anyone thinks that was a shot Cotto, then he's been shot his whole career, because he looked as good as he's ever looked and fought as good.

                From an ESPN interview -

Was the Mayweather fight one that you pushed for through the years at any point behind the scenes with Bob Arum?

Cotto: I never pushed for it at ANY time before. I would just see what is the best fight that I can get fight by fight. This one is the best one for me now. This is the best chapter in my career so far.

But don't let the facts get in the way of your hating. Carry on.

Obviously the TS is a COTTO hater and feels like he needs support from the reset of them. The truth of the matter is that this game here is called Boxing and anything can happen in a fight. Nobody was built to be indestructible, every dog has his day and as much as you don't want to see or hear about it, you will..

                    (Floyd Mayweather lost..!)

so cotto was shot in 2012? but he would beat Floyd in 2014? cotto lost too margarito in 2008. cotto lost too pacquiao in 2009. that's a 3 too 4 year period before cotto fought Floyd in 2012. cotto wasn't coming off of two brutal beatings. he was coming off 3 straight wins including a win over margarito
