I'd pick him against the previous versions but I'm not sure he beats the current version of Cotto at 154.

The 2012 Cotto was competitive but this version is a lot better built and more powerful.

Cotto is not improved. Consider the level of opposition and the circumstances in their entirety. Floyd would always beat Cotto. People throw 2008 Cotto around as if Floyd was 37 at the time. Even when they were together at TR, Arum didn't want to throw Cotto in with Floyd because Arum knew how good Floyd was and how it would possibly ruin Cotto before he made a decent ROI which was smart promoting on his part.

Bolded is because you are a hater or just blind. Consider the level of opposition... Lineal MW champion of the world, Cotto goes in nearly a 3-1 underdog and wins by KO. You're right Cotto ****ing sucks in fact, he has gotten worse, I mean look at all the other guys that put a beat down like that on Sergio.

Also, I'm not sure what your point is bringing up something that is nearly 10 years old now. That doesn't change the fact that I still think Cotto would have given him a hard time (he did 3 years ago, floyds toughest fight) and he could have won. My thinking hasn't changed since then, I still favor Floyd but he would go to hell and back should he win. And really, that is all I want out of a Floyd fight, we see him cherry pick so much I don't care if he loses I just want to see him challenge himself.

Of course Cotto would still lose to Floyd. I don't think the weight matters either. Cotto has always been a really good fighter. He is not an elite fighter. He doesn't know how to adjust well. One of the reasons he lost to Margarito in their first fight(besides the plaster) is because he would not for the life of him clinch when needed but instead he kept trying to run away which Margarito had a huge reach advantage to catch him while he was running. He always loves to stand in front of his opponents too. If you noticed in his rematch with Margarito, he clinched a lot more. I think Cotto was too used to beating the living hell out of his opponents until he ran into Margarito. Even though he fought Mosley and ate like 45% of Mosley power punches.

Cotto isn't faster, he was just the smaller guy. People were in here talking about how fast Sergio was and I knew it wasn't an issue for Cotto. Sergio is fast for a MW fighting even bigger MW, Cotto is smaller and while he is not fast for 147 at 160 his size lets him be much quicker than the bigger guys. Speed is all relative to the other guy, and in this case I figured Cotto would be the fast guy on his feet and he was.

He's changed trainers to one of the best in the world, he has a new strength and training conditioner, also of notable repute. He's a better fighter and obviously superior physical specimen to that of 2012.

Floyd by comparison is looking old, flat-footed and is currently rematching the likes of Maidana.

Obviously the TS is a COTTO hater and feels like he needs support from the reset of them.The truth of the matter is that this game here is called Boxing and anything can happen in a fight. I have mad respect for Cotto. He's one of the best fighters out there and he fights everybody. I thought he'd lose to Martinez but he proved me wrong. It's just a shame that Martinez was hobbled. I'd like to see how Cotto fairs against elite competition.
