I hope they don't reach for Salka type opponents for Broner and Matthysse. That should not be a trend, where not looking good enough in your showcase fight means you get an even easier showcase fight for a do-over.

The problem is that these are two guys that every single boxing fan wanted to see fight eachother. Announcing they will be fighting the same night but not eachother is just saying that you refuse to put them against eachother becuase clearly they can afford to have them on the same card and clearly they are ready to fight at the same time. There is no excuse for them not to make the fight. Please throw out any 2 opponents you want and tell me that either of those fights are better than Broner-Matthysse. It is impossible because the only other two meaningful guys in the division are fighting on August 9th, again on the same card without fighting eachother. We want to see the best possible fights and the best possible fight that could be that night is Broner-Matthysse. Please stop making excuses for this man ruining the sport.

Before algeri won i had no idea who he was, and even know ha trouble remembering first name, but he got an HBO slot. Before Bradley Ruslan was an Espn staple but he got an HBO slot.

Point being they both give us crap but you never know what will emerge so im just waitin to see. Im a boxing fan not a network, promoter, or manager/advisor fanboy

these recent mismatches that turned close fights has become some sort of a shield for these greedy promoters/networks.

Zab is garbage at this point he very debatably beat Matthysse 4 years ago and hasn't had a significant win since. I'd like to see Postol in one of the fights but like I said, no fight they can be made that is better and fans want to see more than Matthysse-Broner and that isn't happening.

For the record, I don't care who puts on the fights. but "prize" fighters should be fighting prize fighters and the no names gotta work there way up the ladder and earn their shot.

Provodnikov was a beast with one L going into the Bradley fight. He was caking fools on ESPN and had a helluva fight in his Herrera loss. He was ready.
