  • These different times. Random testing is more accepted in the game. If you turn down testing, it raises question marks.

JMM has turned down VADA for the Bradley fight when Bradley insisted that was part of their contract. They settled for a little stricter testing by Nevada's commission.

Defending Bob Arum is quite hard for a number of reasons. He's a famous liar, well-known to veteran fans as a promoter that tends to totally exaggerate negotiations to ensure that he comes out looking holier than thou....

Marley, a Top Rank/Pacquiao writer, and a close friend of Arum's, was just as perplexed by Arum's deadline. He didn't get it; he couldn't work out what Arum was up to. So he went digging....

Bob Arum, according to Marley, just spent the next five weeks "blowing smoke to the media," to try and confuse the situation and giving the impression that he was breaking his back to make the deal. When in truth, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was the last thing Arum wanted for 2010.

Why did the talks fail? According to Marley, contrary to most reports, Pacquiao was unwilling to move an inch on drug testing. And Mayweather was unwilling to move an inch on money.

      Pretty predictable.

As another example of the way Arum operates, it also turns out that "Pacquiao accepting 14 days" was just more "smoke" as part of the Arum charade.

The original quote from Pacquiao was 100 percent fake. Arum has admitted as much. The second quote from Pacquiao was real, but for PR purposes. Pacquiao's manager denied it was accurate, when quizzed soon after.

To confirm the charade, only days ago, Arum was asked straight up, what drug terms Pacquiao had agreed to and he was unable to give an answer.

This is a man who had an agreement with Mayweather's people? He couldn't even answer what the supposed drug agreement was?

        • Now the Arum/Pac/Roachtards say Algieri is a young hugry undefeated graceful boxer sure to provide a stern test for Pacquiao...two days ago he was a pillow-fisted running coward who needed a hometown robbery to beat Provodnikov

          • Like I said, they were different times back then. Both PAC and Floyd are to blame for the fight not happening. But when all is said and done, PAC eventually agreed to everything. Floyd went on vacation, and made new demands.

Good question. I think Manny should give 50/50 only because Marquez 5 is a legacy fight! I'm not one to defend Manny often, but has Marquez been getting the same kind of money as Manny? Here's how one writer broke it down (with a chart and everything):

According to those figures, Manny Pacquiao's officially reported purses have been, on average, roughly half of what Floyd Mayweather has been getting. Although the documents do not disclose revenue also generated from pay-per-view upside, it's extremely doubtful that Pacquiao is getting significantly more than Mayweather in that department, especially considering that they both do similar numbers and in Pacquiao's case, Top Rank retains 27.5%. While I personally believe the subject of a 50/50 split is irrelevant, mainly because Bob Arum was never interested in staging the fight on May 5 to begin with, given those numbers, it's understandable why Mayweather might allegedly inform Pacquiao that a $40 million guarantee would be significantly more money than he's been currently making.

It will be you, and about 299,999 other people (If that). This fight sucks!

                • I think PAC should give JMM a 50/50 purse split with VADA testing. They should consider doing the fight in Dallas or at the Forum in LA. Or some place like Brazil or Argentina.

Do I think PAC is greedy? As a PAC fan, I will say yes PAC is greedy. I think his money problems plays a part in this at the moment. I think PAC does have tax problems, that's a reason why he doesn't want to give JMM that much. He's still offering JMM a career high payday however.

But still, I understand that to make the fight enticing for JMM, you got to give him the $$$.

But at the same time, I only think PAC takes the fight if Marquez agrees to VADA testing.

The keyword is "eventually." Pac eventually agreed to OST, after Marquez KO'd him. Pac eventually agreed to 60/40, but Floyd has shown he can make way more money even without Manny (see Mayweather vs. Canelo). The fight will never happen, and it's a shame, because now we have Manny fighting the Chris Algeri types and not the Canelo Alvarez types.

That would be an awesome offer! If Marquez was to turn that down, then we would all know that he's on some bull****. 50/50, fight in Texas (lower taxes), maybe at Jerry's World, and it could be billed, THE WAR TO END ALL WARS!
