In a recent interview with BoxingScene.com, Hopkins called out Kovalev saying, "I got two titles and a legacy. What's Kovalev got? A punch and a WBO title - let's do it." He added, "The perception is, is that Kovalev is a killer and [Adonis] Stevenson doesn't want to fight him, he wants to fight an old man. If that's the case, I'll knock off Kovalev first, because I believe that I can beat him. I believe that he's a tough fight, but I believe that I can beat him. It's a fight where if I make a mistake I can get knocked out. And yeah Bernard Hopkins can get knocked out too, and so can Kovalev and so can Stevenson, who's been knocked out once in his career." We all read that B-Hop article last week..... There's no roadblocks here.


This fight is happening, right? I mean Hopkins said he wants it, so it has to happen? Because there certainly is no roadblocks from Kovalevs side

Hopkins needs a defining fight before he retires, he should fight Kovalev to see who the very best at 175 is. If he wins he retires on top like a G.

Having watched back at some of kovalevs previous fights, I don't think Hopkins will fight this guy.

I think it's a negotiating ploy to get more money for the Stevenson fight. And trying to make Stevenson not delay the fight further given his age.

Kovalev would be a dangerous fight for Hopkins right now

I think hopkins has enough left to beat kovalev...he doesnt impress me much like he does to other posters on here.

In the last line of this article it actually says Kathy Duva reached out to Hopkins camp immediately after the article last week and her response was "I don't know"


I think it's all on Hopkins at this point. He needs to offically make the call

Kovalev is a bigger threat to Hops than Stevenson, which is why this fight is never happening.
